Have heard zilch about this guy. Understandable since there are so many new players. Is he a part of the rotation? Dude is skilled obviously needed to put on weight. Has he been able to gain some strength offseason?

The guy could help you in short stretches off bench if he can see the floor.

Thoughts?

It's only been 1 exhibition game into the season . Total new system and players going to be alot of experimenting by the staff. To see who can do what with whom in it. JJ will be alright.

The staff was slow to bring JJ off the bench vs Kentucky State. Don’t get it. Feel he has a huge upside. Anyone heard of him being in the doghouse?

I would not read anything into any of these exhibition games, as the staff is trying to see what individual skills match the up tempo style, and secondly what combinations fit best. Strangely, this is the down-side to having 10+ players capable of contributing this year. A good problem to have, but not without some consternation.

Denny Crum told me some years ago that individual court time efficiency was far more critical to the success of the team, than individual statistics. For example having 5 or 6 players averaging double digits was considerably more desirable than having one player on the floor for 35-40 minutes averaging 25 points a game. JJ, and all of these kids need to be efficient during the limited amount of time they are on the court.

He didn't play much the other night and didn't do much when he did. Doesn't seem to want to work hard but that's just the way it seems to me. Hope he is good for more than he showed in the exhibition.

JJ is still too thin and lacks upper body strength to battle inside. Still a lot of talent with wingspread and athleticism. He will still have a chance to contribute before the end of this season.

The question is will the JJ camp be patient? He is a development type of player. As he gets bigger and stronger his play will increase. The other thing is can he improve his perimeter skills if he just can’t put on weight.

He is a really intriguing player. Body type is like KD. He has a good shot, can he learn to put it on the floor and be strong enough to take contact? At a lower level he could probably play facing the basket. Not sure he has the ability, handle wise, to be a shooter and driver. That is yet to be determined.

This. Traynor was always a high risk high reward type player and was going to need longer to develop. The question is whether he stays long enough to do so. Its a little concerning that we were hearing about his family making comments publicly last year.

Its not surprising he isnt getting a ton of time. He is behind the deepest positions and the guys ahead of him all showed something in the exhibition games to prove why they are in front of him. Williamson was aggressive, Cross has stupid range, Davis had added to his game in every way, Withers has as high of a ceiling as Traynor and is further along (he took the time to develop), Williams is an anchor and experienced, and Curry is looking like a grown man at center.
