Question for those totally opposed to CDP

This team has a ton of talent, they also wanted DP as their coach.

As I’ve stated in various other threads I’ve been predicting a season ending record of 24-12 for this season. And, I had a “W” penciled in for today. So, say I’m correct, you’re good with DP going 24-12??? Turn over the keys to him??? Really??? Not me, no way!

Hell yes, that would be good enough!

Pitino had 25 wins last year with an NBA ROTY candidate and a $7 million annual salary. Can't believe how you're shortchanging 24 wins with a first-year coach...crazy.

If Boeheim retired at Syracuse or Izzo retired at Michigan St this offseason, do you think Padgett would be a candidate for either of those jobs?

If the fans give him a chance, which it appears they are willing to do at present, why would either of those jobs be better than UL?

Never said either is a better job than Louisville. One way to evaluate the demand for his services is to determine if similar programs think he is qualified.

I’d say DP got a much better version of Ray Spalding than Rick had last year, no? Comparing apples and oranges, guys are older, freshman contributors, etc.

I find it funny that many fans we’re saying at the beginning of the season that if DP could get to the Elite Eight, Final Four, etc. he may get the job. Now some are dropping those expectations to 24-12, really??? Wow, hell let’s bring Ron Cooper back then, no??? He’ll fill that 65,000 seat stadium! Yeah, that’s what we can do!

I’m glad you flip hamburgers for a living because I don’t know what other job you could hold with your logic or reasoning.

No, some like YOU were saying that. My expectations were far more reasonable...

Padgett wouldn't have gotten this opportunity either, but that's irrelevant at this point. The issue is now what has he done to keep it.

So far, giving him a shot is the one good decision your clown show has made...

Your clown show did a respectable job creating the opportunity for him as well. Kudos all around!

Find it. I never said that. I’ve never wanted DP long term and I actually like the guy. We can do better.
I'll use the descriptor that "MANY" folks here expected us to be Top 15 throughout the season even after Pitino was fired. MANY people made little or no adjustment in their expectations, which was very foolish and shortsighted IMO...

They ain't my clown show, at least I'm not defending them like a few people I know.

I'm also not giving them too much credit for handing Padgett the interim job. He was the obvious choice; I would have hired him without drawing Tyra's $1.2 million salary...

They have played 1 bad game. All the rest have been 1 possession games in final 2 minutes. They haven't made plays or executed to win. Coach P wasn't very good either in those situations. Overall, he has done a pretty good job. This roster make up is weird, they really don't compliment each other skill wise or how they play the game.

It really boils down to can Coach Padgett handle everything that goes with Louisville? Will he energize the fan base? Can he recruit well enough to get the fan base excited? Can he build a program? Can he fundraise? Can he legitimately compete for national titles every year? The future coach has to check off everyone of these boxes or they aren't the right guy at this moment in time.

Padgett is doing as well as or better than Pitino would have been done. It's refreshing to have a coach that is focused on the team rather than a trouble infested prima donna.

This is closest to the best post I’ve seen from you but Pitino was not an option, so it’s “CDP has done as well or better than any other coach put in his situation and it is refreshing to focus on the team’s play than on CRP and his mind games.

We are getting into the time of year when most teams start showing marked improvement. The better coaches start getting their team ready for the NCAA. We are either going to start playing better or we are going to start working our way toward a .500 record and an NIT bid. Saturday's game was not encouraging and we appear to be trending down. But there is still time to make corrections and whether or not that happens will say a lot about Padgett as a head coach.
