He took a historically bad defense from last year and led these guys to a solid start against a top 10 team. I was really impressed with how our guys played in 3 and short situations. I was impressed how they responded after giving up a TD on the opening drive. Last year our guys would’ve turtled up.
We did miss on a few 3 and long opportunities. I noticed on several of ND’s longer plays, our linebackers and safeties were getting drawn out into coverage but weren’t swiveling their heads to recognize where the ball was. So if the play broke down they were oftentimes still running downfield.
I think the next step is to dominant an inferior opponent, which is something we did not do last year.
