Just gonna go on and get this out there. Attendance for the Syracuse game will not be what everyone wants. Based on how fans have attended past end of the season games (not against UK) and anecdotally from what I’m hearing from folks, I’m expecting about 30-35k.

I’m excited for the game and ready to get out there.

And that would be pretty much are solid fan base. Will be loud so the others miss out and we have fun.

I look for it to be a very dominated male attended game. But I'm going and ignoring the weathermen this time. I don't like being called a fair weather fan. ;)

I would recommend everyone disregard the weather people. There wrong more than their right and scare to many fans away. The UVA game was nearly perfect with the exception of 3 minutes or so at the half and the last couple of minutes. Dress appropriately and its not bad

Oh yeah my wife and soon to be daughter in-law will be there. Along with the ladies we tailgate with.

My wife is going. Tonight anyway

My sis-in-law will absolutely go. She won't miss a game.

My daughter claims she's getting "sick" tonight o_O

My niece is going.

We'll see who ends up there with me.

I’ll be there till all the Louisville players walk off the field. I’m not a season ticket holder but purchased tickets just for this game. These wonderful guys, especially our seniors deserve everything they can get from us fans.

I understand that the conditions are going to be miserable but this is a special bunch of players and coaches and a special moment for the program.

Go Cards!

I'm going to be surprised if the weather is as bad as predicted.

I think the rain will be over.

The Weather people have gotten into the "creating news" business. It's gotta be a "story".

I just hope they are wrong. Again.

Biggest reason we cannot keep a coach when things are going good. It has been this way for a long time, just hoping the ACC connection can change this over time. We have 35,000 great fans. We need 50,000 great fans. Go Cards!

Not sure I agree with all this. Since 2003 we’ve lost a coach to the NFL and one to Texas and have fired coaches twice. Certainly I wish we had 50,000 diehard fans but realistically that isn’t going to happen. The current young adult population generally isn’t as interested in sitting at a game and we don’t have the traditional huge generational following that so many land-grant universities have. On the flip side, a coach here gets to live in a vibrant, fun city. And at a university that has a passionate following and a commitment to being a top athletic program.

Let’s not forget two of the coaches who left here complained about attendance. Now that probably wasn’t their reason for ultimately leaving, but I’m sure it factored into it. Those coaches: John L and Strong. Strong who even called our fan base out by comparing SuCk to us.

Now our fan base is growing. When I was at UofL we might have had 10,000 dedicated fans.

But your point about young people is well noted and all universities are experiencing that issue even Bama. Saban complains about student attendance or lack thereof.

All good points, but last game i wenr to the concourses are packed.

Alot of fans treat the game as social event.

Im in my seat and stay till the game is over. Not leaving a 3 point game with 4 minutes left.

Yep. My wife would ask are you ready to leave? My response? Would you leave before a movie was over. That was years ago. She never asks anymore.

I actually couriered free tickets to two different people last nite to hopefully see the tickets used. But I'm not picking them up and taking them. :p

At some point, people have to drag themselves to these games...

Given the cold and the rain, attendance will be very low. It would actually be better if it was just snowing. But wet and cold can get you sick.
In organizing the tailgate, I have already spoken with quite a few not-fairweather-fans who are skipping this one. These are folks who almost never miss a game and stay until the end no matter what. This is actually the first miss for a few of them. But they don't like the weather for this one. So if they're not going, the casual fan is definitely taking a pass. Nasty weather will always affect attendance, especially late season games that are notorious for poor attendance even when the team is ranked and the weather is good.

Wish I could have been there, live too far away. When I did live in the ville, I made every game, from those in the old fair grounds to the games in the new stadium. Very disappointed in the way the stadium looked on TV. BTW last night, Wyoming vs Colorado State, temp was 15, wind chill -1 place was packed. At one point the announcers said, "The fans that are here are making some noise." This was senior night for a team that went from 2-10 to at least 7-4
....sorry, this card fan thinks the attendance was pathetic.

Wyoming had an announced attendance of 21000 and an avg game attendance of 23000. If it were packed it’s because their stadium is less than half the size of ours.

I was there, but left at half when a steady mist started blowing in my face. In the first quarter there were maybe 25,000 and by the time I left, maybe 15,000. But those that were there made some noise. Great win, great season so far, considering expectations. One more win next weekend will close the book on it. A bowl win would be the cherry on top.

See What me worries's post....we're better than that, it was raining and these guys have done an amazing job. Not judging nor looking for excuses, but I sit here in Colorado and wonder where the fans are on senior day in a year that far exceeded my expectations.

can’t lie that I had to go to the concourse several times out of nervousness and weather, but the crowd that was there was awesome today.

I’m making the trip to Lex next week. I have a 2011 vibe for the game! That’s the last time I went to the Governor’s Cup in Lexington.

What about his post should I be looking at? I was out there tailgating at 12:30 and stayed til the final snap. The weather was f’ing horrible all day. My face feels like I’ve been snow skiing all day. The crowd today is what any UofL fan would expect based on past attendance at poor weather games and cold end of the season games. Perhaps we should be “better than that” but we’ve never been historically.

I guess I had lowered my expectations far enough that it was actually a better turnout than I expected. And it's probably true that the people who show up in that kinda weather are the ones who get more involved.

My own toes are finally starting to warm up. If you sat thru that game until the final horn, you have my congratulations...

No need to take it personally, I'm talking about those who chose to stay home, not those who showed. You should be a bit upset too I guess. when I live in Louisville I was like you, there early and there til the end, no matter the weather. If we want to be a program at the next tier.....and keep top tier coaches and get top tier players then we need to do better.....Said it when I was a season ticket holder....mention it when I'm fortunate enough to see the Cards on TV from afar....Instead of ragging me....rag on some of your friends that could have gone, but chose to watch from the warmth of the bar.

My toes are still not thawed. I dressed myself well except I wore my plastic rain boots and left my winter boots in the closet. It was winter cold damp weather. What was I thinking? I made 2 2/3 quarters.

Not sure where I “ragged” on you. Our fanbase is what it is. We have a passionate core and then a lot of other folks that spend a lot of money on the program but simply won’t show up if conditions are suboptimal. Sure I’d prefer if every fair weather fan showed up but that isn’t going to happen. It didn’t happen in the past and certainly isn’t going to happen with changing consumer dynamics.

Fair enough.....hope we get the win next week and then on to a bowl....perhaps if it's in El Paso I can make the trip. Either way go Cards!
