UNC is a better team, they have more depth & talent. Roy Williams is a damn good coach with 837 career wins. Play a seven game series with these guys and UNC wins it 4-0 or 4-1 at best.

Our inability to PUT A BODY ON SOMEONE to get a damn rebound was a killer tonight. We also lack toughness and grit down low, but hell many of us have been saying that for years!

Plenty of ball to play but I’m still saying a record of about 23-13 when all is said and done. Then it will be time to thank DP for a great effort and then go get a permanent new head coach. I’m looking forward to a new era soon, I’m hopeful UofL will hire a top level coach! Go Cards!!!

I don't see us winning another game on the schedule besides MAYBE NCState and that's the biggest maybe of all time.

I’ll be surprised if we don’t finish regular season 0-5. At this point in the season you either have toughness or you don’t. We don’t have it.

Love David Padgett, and I bet we wouldn't win 20 games (as Red knows). The two are not mutually exclusive...

Who knows but this team has been flawed all year and that isn't changing. I tend to agree this is a NIT team. I don't think they have a shot against Virginia and Duke. That leaves two road games at VT and NC State....I don't like their chances especially with how Louisville plays defense.

They lack focus and attention to detail. How can the bigs constantly be late on picks up high? It happens every single game.

They are trying but they just lack that aggressiveness and toughness. .

Yeah, impossible spot for Padgett. Following a HOF coach is hard enough for experienced guys. To think Padgett would be able to push all the right buttons with this team was wishful thinking. .

It's also not on the players for the most part. They signed up to play for Pitino, a coach who was gonna ride them like a rented mule. That's not who DP is.

None of them chose this. Something to keep in mind when you're looking for someone to blame...

I didn't expect much in this game... If we couldn't beat unranked teams at home a week or so ago, we weren't beating Carolina at home. The team hasn't improved much if at all this year. That's on the coaching, though I can't really blame Padgett as a rookie coach in this situation. It's just a fact he didn't coach this team up and get them playing better as the year progressed, though.

Coaching changes, in general, are very difficult. When you add in the factor coach P was fired that adds a whole new dynamic. Louisville and Petrino is a really good example, Top 10 team didn't play like that when he left. When you have a coach suddenly leave that was extremely disciplined and detailed in everything the team does the next guy better be of that mold.

This is a team that needs to be pushed, scolded and molded but that really isn't Padgett thing at this moment in time. The one leader on the team plays the game like he playing against his best friends. He isn't changing and that isn't something a coach can change about a person. Coach P couldn't do it either.

Tough spot for the kids and coach.

That looked like a 2nd round game with 1 team on its way to the Final four and the other going...home.

I have been open minded about Padgett as our permanent coach but I am not any longer. I think he is a wonderful young man who might have a future some place in coaching but I have seen nothing to this point that makes me believe he is capable of taking over a job like ours where the expectation is to play and beat the best competition. What I saw against UK and North Carolina proves to me we need to find a coach.

I don't disagree, but the problem is timing... Never has there been a more uncertain time to go out and hire someone with college coaching experience.

If we don't make the NCAA I hope we skip the NIT.

The NIT is for development. We aren't even treading water, we're sinking with Interim everything. Unknown if players are bailing.

Nothing to develop or build on.

Until we get some kind of stability, there is no sense in getting bent out of shape over any of this.

Snider, being a hometown kid and a SR ought to be going off on these guys.

But that's not the way with today's kids. Let everybody do their thing, and heaven forbid dis anybody for being a turd.

Fear cannot the rationale to stand still when the situation dictates action.

Don’t understand this rationale. You have four freshmen and two sophomores that need court time. We may not get a postseason for two years?

It’s don’t give a chit rational. They don’t. So I don’t.

What’s one more NIT game going to fix?

Yes, we cannot hire anyone until we get some answers from the NCAA. However, Tyra needs to be putting a list together in preparation for the time when we can hire someone. No reason to put that off.

That’s the Cardinal spirit! I guess you don’t like going to bowl games either?
I like em fine. Been to most starting with the Fiesta. I like the NCAA too. Apparently more than the teams does.

I'm just of the opinion that our BoT and leadership is not interested in Bowls. Or the NCAA. Or the NIT.

These are our "good 'ol days" I'm afraid.

We can mumble dick around with Barney Fife as a coach, come in 5th or 6th in FB, and 7th-9th in BB, and these boobs will be perfectly happy with the ACC participation money.

You know, like uk has done for years in FB.

It's all they know since so many on OUR BoT are uk grads. They know you don't have to be real good to make good money.

Believe me, I understand your frustration. It’s the most difficult time being a Louisville fan since Denny’s last few years but we survived. That’s what fans do. I have been an Orioles baseball fan since 1966...

Myth - we move forward. If you wait on NCAA, FBI, etc we might as well bring Jerry Jones back to coach em up!

If you want the best possible hire, you probably won't get that as long as we have a large amount of uncertainty hanging over the program. The possibility even though hopefully remote, still exists for a death penalty. No top drawer coach is leaving a good job for ours until some of this is settled.

Donovan and Jay Wright for starters.
I like targeting coaches of that stature. But Wright's had two 5-star and four 4-star kids commit in the last three classes (2016-18). How do you figure he's in the clear on the FBI stuff?

And Donovan's only safe if the FBI doesn't look back more than a few years...

I figure that he’s raised Villanova’s profile sufficiently that he’s getting some better kids but you’re right - time will tell.

Plus - I just don’t believe everyone is dirty to the point of disqualifying them from consideration.

If this many teams are actually involved then it's going to be extremely hard to hire someone that isn't and is also WORTH something. My money is still on Mack.

I don't believe everyone cheats either. If the reports out last week are anywhere close to accurate, however, just about everyone at the top of the sport does at some level.

My guess is that the NCAA will conclude that all of the top players are compensated. The question will distill down to which coaches knew about it. And that will take awhile to figure out if it's ever determined...

Mack's a top tier coach as well... Top 10 recruiting class and Top 10 ranking. He's under the microscope...

The question we ALL should be asking ourselves is this current administration going to be willing to pay for the likes of Donovan or Wright or Mack? I think it’s a real problem.

Donovan is currently making somewhere around 6 million a year. Wright makes 2.5 million.

Where is the money going to come from, especially if and IMO when Pitino and Jurich win their lawsuits?

I see threads about who our next coach "should" be but its pretty simple if you ask me...

Billy D isn't coming...not to Louisville and not back to the college game right now.

Ask Jay Wright - its a long shot and he's going to say "No" but you ask him just to be sure.

Go get Chris Mack and give him a 10 year contract and be done with this.
