- Ben Slanker (OF): Transferred from Ohio, a First-Team All-MAC selection.
- Jake Bean (RHP): Transferred from Kent State, also a First-Team All-MAC selection.
Early was a no-brainer and hopefully is a sign that our All Freshman ACC 1st baseman is happy where he’s at.
Someone mentioned on the other board that Neighbors may have 1 more year of eligibility?? If that is true, this makes some sense.
His bio reads 2 years at Cal State Northridge and 3 years at Long Beach City College. However, one of those years at Long Beach was a shortened 12 game season (maybe COVID). I did hear that he may be going into the ministry after college.
We've got 3 shortstop position guys coming in as Freshmen this Fall. My guess is one will push Alicea over to his natural 2b position or will be our next second baseman if Alicea stays at shortstop.
Of course, there's the third possibility of a transfer coming in and playing one of these positions.

I really like the guy but honestly he's gonna be like 35 before he gets off campus........Solid player, GREAT tourney but time to move on. Good luck.

Griffin Crain
So,Griff(as he's called by his teammates )was redshirted this season after breaking a bone in his wrist. Maybe a similar injury to what Klein had.
Griff is a center fielder who I had the pleasure of watching play Fall Ball about 9 months ago. If he can take a step forward offensively, he could be in the outfield next season. He's an outstanding defender. I only bring him up because he'll be a new face to our fans,much like incoming Freshmen and transfers.

Crain is player I’ve been following since his commitment. Mostly because the intrigue of being from RI. It’s not really a state we normally look for players in.
I’ve been waiting to see if he shows up for summer ball. Typically redshirts are well into playing by now, unless there is an injury.

I believe the NCAA granted an extra year to any active athlete that has played at least one of season of JuCo. It’s from the WF quarterback lawsuit.
I think him redshirting was solely because of that injury. I think it happened in February. He might not be ready if it's something different than Klein's.
The most important job is to recruit the current roster. They have to land legit arms in portal. Not worried about position players in portal as long as they can maintain what they already have.
