I thought the BOT and Postal, using Pitino's deceased infant son as a bargaining chip to get off cheap was really in very poor taste.

I think it brings to light what these people are really like and what we are really dealing with here.

There is no way they have the "best interest" of the program and the university if they are using tactics like this. Like Pitino or not, it was a totally morbid and below the belt.

Absolutely disgusting...

This was/is Bevins way to destroy the University...Him and his other Kentucky Fans and Grads he appointed to the BOT are jealous of the success that Louisville has accomplished across the board in academics, athletics and facilities...He's now a one term governor!!!

I agree it looked seedy, but it is the Foundation that Pitino has set up just like Bobby set up the Petrino Family Foundation. If we had heard they offered to donate to the Pitino Family Foundation would there be angst regarding this?

Really? They used it as a bargaining tool not as a donation. Do you realty see that as the same? It didn’t look seedy it was shameful and lacked any class. And I for one hate the fact that it was the BOT that represents our University that did it. David Grissom and Greg Postel are low life’s that should resign.

I understand the outrage. It's pathetic to use his dead son as a possible bargaining chip especially when they fired him for 'cause'. Sounds to me like they don't have as solid of a case as they once thought they did regarding the 'cause' since they tried to buy him off by tugging on his heart strings a wee bit.

It is in very poor taste. You just fired him for cause and now trying to avoid a lawsuit by dangling a small carrot in the name of his dead infant son. That is classless.

Yes it was a bargaining tool, but I don't think it's outrageous to make a donation to one's foundation.

Your correct if it was just a donation but that’s not what it was. His buy outs 44M and they bring his dead son into by offering 1.5M. It was in poor taste and stupid. If I have cause I would just fire someone. Their not sure.

That BOT is a joke. They are not handling this situation in a professional manner at all. I wonder who is really behind all this or if something majorly wrong was going on that no one knows about? It all smells funny.

It was a negotiating attempt but I don't see it as anything other than trying to avoid litigation by coming to a settlement that would benefit the foundation the Pitino's created

From the outset, whoever is advising the Administration, has underestimated the strength of the opposition (Petino and particularly Jurich). Both have the accumulated wealth, to fight the "cause" issue. The Administration can't afford to lose. There is a principle of the law that an employee claimant has the duty to mitigate his losses by trying to find another job, but with all the adverse assumptions created by the Administration's precipitous actions, it will be difficult for the employees (particularly Petino) to find another job.

Obviously that was the intent but in perspective, the perception was ill advised.

I agree. I think media headlines and internet posts definitely sensationalized things. If the headline said "Board offers $1.5M to Pitino Foundation to settle" then there is little indignation

Wish they would’ve saved tom. I miss him already :(
You're in the wrong place. The momentum here is trending that we won't miss him a bit.

Of course, it's the same crowd that wanted Bailout Arena built, more 5-star basketball recruits, and a new D coordinator...

I thought you wanted him back too?
