The biggest focal points as Louisville basketball begins practice this month will be fundamentals and conditioning, coach Rick Pitino told the Ramsey and Rutherford show on 93.9 The Ville on Friday.
Pitino, who is on the road this week making recruiting stops, said his team is "not in the physical condition" he wants, but next week's workouts will address those concerns. First, they'll spend some time on fundamentals.
"There's a lot of things that have to get better with this basketball team," he said.
He repeated what he has said all summer, that U of L has a likable group of players with good chemistry and strong work ethic. He praised graduate transfers Trey Lewis and Damion Lee for the impact they've made since arriving a few months ago.
"Without Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, we'd be in total rebuilding mode, but with those two, we're going to be very competitive this year," Pitino said.
