Clemson fan flying in morning of game and renting car so can't really pack for tailgate. 1) suggested parking if we arrive 4-5 hours before kickoff, public lots? Private parking situation? May be awkward with it being a business day. Would like to park early enough to walk campus with kids like we do for every new road trip. 2) Good place by campus to eat and hang out before game suitable for kids?

Thanks and looking forward to a new venue. Trying to make every ACC road stadium before kids head off to college. Knocking out 1-2 a year.

Parking is going to be tough. The worst traffic I've seen was our Thursday night game against FSU last year. Problem is the school lots are off limits when game days are also class days. I would suggest either Churchill Downs or the Fairgrounds. Both are a reasonable walk to the stadium. Some others on the board might have better suggestions.

If you want to tour the campus there is a public pay parking lot on South Floyd Street just south of Cardinal Blvd. Normally they have a flat fee for the games and charge by the hour at other times. I'm not sure what they will do for a Thursday night game. There is a shuttle from the lot to the stadium.

There is often a public tailgate at the baseball stadium before games and that is an easy walk from the Churchill Downs lots. If you walk through the season parking pass lots south of the stadium you will be offered food and drink from anyone who visited Clemson last year. You folks were the most hospitable fan base I have ever encountered. Because of work I won't be able to tailgate before the Clemson game but there will be plenty of tailgaters who will take the afternoon off work.

With the exception of the game results hope you enjoy your trip to Louisville..

What about the gravel lot where the silos were? I thought that was going to used as parking for football games. It is an easy walk to the campus and the stadium. For the Clemson fan it is located on south Floyd , south of Eastern Parkway look on map quest.

Dude. Park at Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. Enter via Gate 4 on Crittenden Drive. $8 and not much chance they run out of spots.

Fairly short walk to Cardinal Hall of Fame cafe. Have dinner and hang with the kids.

After dinner, walk next door to Cracker Barrel for pie and ice cream.

Short walk to stadium.

After game exit KFEC at the main gate. (South side) You'll swing past the airport and end up on the Watterson Expressway east to head back to your hotel.

Enjoy your trip!

Great info, thanks for the responses. Good to have some new destinations in the conference. We live 5 min from the Clemson campus so getting out to some different venues is always enjoyable.

Taft, agree with the poster recommending the fairgrounds. I live in SC too and that's where I always park when I make it to Card games. It's just an easy parking situation.

The walk to stadium is not bad at all and the campus is a little further past the stadium.

Have fun. I won't be there for Clemson but will be for Samford due to a wedding in the ville.
