butch jones sealed his fate tonight, as did apparently McElwain. At the end of the year there will be a crapload of sec schools looking for a new coach.

Definites -
Florida
Tennessee
Arkansas
Ole Miss

Almost assuredly -
TAMU

Wouldn’t Be A Surprise -
Mizzou
Auburn

Who are the candidates for these jobs? And do any (obviously not Arkansas) go after petrino?

Scott Frost probably in the mix too... and the guy at Memphis...

A # of big names will be thrown around, but there will be some 3rd/4th choice "settling" in some instances.

Jeremy Pruitt, Tee Martin, Brent Venables, Matt Campbell, Charlie Strong, Justin Fuente....
Not a bad list. My take:

Pruitt - at least a year away. Rumored anger issues and DCs less likely candidates for HC jobs. Strong - too soon off of the Texas failure. Fuente - just hired at Va Tech and, has it rolling (ish).

Venables for sure. No Brohm?

I don't think Brohm is a legit candidate - no.

He's sitting 3-5. If they finish really strong then maybe his status changes.

Scott Frost is my guess to be the next FLA coach.

Most of those "traditional" teams' fanbases would riot if they got a coach that had a losing record at a P5 school the year before with no notable wins in his mid-major coaching career. I guess I could see Mizzou considering him.

Brohm might prove to be a great coach, the only reason most want him here is the alum factor and wishful thinking.

I think someone will go after Syracuse coach. They have made huge strides in 2 years.
Neil Brown at Troy would be good at Miss/Ark
Don't be surprised if Mullen ends up at Florida.
Chip Kelly will end up somewhere.
I would look at the DC at Notre Dame. That dude can coach defense. Wake was really good considering their talent level. Notre Dame was pretty bad defensively last year they are good under his coaching.
Ohio State DC-Schiano would be worth a look. Has experience and his Rutgers teams were pretty good.
Iowa State coach Matt Campbell has done a hell of a job.
Texas DC is really good.
Scott Frost will land somewhere.

UCLA will probably come open too.

Not sure if Charlie Strong won't tell the SEC to shove it. He was THE no-brainer hire several times and got passed.
Some are screaming for schools to throw a boatload of money at Leach to come back from Washington State.

Strange enough, not sure about Jones.
Tennessee is paying about five guys right now not to coach.
Florida....sounds like they wanna shake the Mississippi State tree.
aTm...a school you can win 8 or 9 and get canned. Sumlin would be a good hire anywhere.

Guess it depends how many coordinators Saban is willing to part with.
