has been nothing short of amazing so far in his sophomore season. Looks and plays like a totally different player. His physical transformation has helped quite a bit with this, but now he is doing it all out there. He's directing traffic, rebounding, defending (helped out on Barber quite a bit), and scoring in a variety of ways. Love the jump hooks, power jams, occasional short jumpers, and overall effort.

His development has been a huge key especially with Mangok out. Nanu played huge against Wake and again tonight snagging 14 rebs and scoring 12 points, 1 blk, 1 stl.

He HAS REALLY IMPROVED. That 'jump hook' is THE shot that all our players should master during the off season. When a player masters that shot you can go inside on almost anyone that isn't a foot taller than you. It is the best shot to have in your arsenal when you get within 7,8 feet of the bucket.

There is no reason that he should be shooting FT's underhanded. He is a big man that made a 15 foot jump shot with ease last night. Its all in his head. His FT percentage has not changed at all. Last year he shot .46 % compared .48% this year.

I agree it is all in his head, but It's going to be a whole lot easier for him to master the underhanded free throw shot than the conventional approach. This is his first year trying it so he has to practice a lot. Once he finds that rhythm, his percentage should go up along with his confidence.

Ralph Willard. A genius working with big men. Doesn't hurt having David Padgett around. And all big men suck at free throws. Great transformation of what seems to be a very good kid. If he sticks around, he could be a complete beast next year.......

There was a play late where an NC State got the ball on the baseline on the bench side of the basket. Nanu was to the right of the player and it appeared that the player had a direct line to the basket. I thought for sure the guy had an easy lane for bucket but Nanu stayed there. The guy could not go to his left at all and Nanu ended up blocking the shot and getting the ball. I think most players' natural reaction would be to stand completely between the player and the basket but Nanu payed attention to the scouting report.

He does things like that that doesn't get noticed. High Basketball IQ

Totally agree. I remember saying on the board last season that if Nanu- and the other bigs- could learn the jump hook/baby hook shot it would be a huge plus. But especially for Nanu because of his big body, strength and size he could back an opponent down and use a hook shot to great effect. This season he is able to do just that.
