One weird ass season

This season is such a frigging mystery. Here's a game where Louisville played as well as they had all year and had the announcers saying this is the Louisville team we all expected this season.

Then like a jinx the Cards get outscored 19 to 0 and the lead was only five with three minutes to go. I told my wife we're going to blow a 27 point 2nd half lead to a team worse off than us. I was convinced we were going to lose. It would be such a typical ending to this crazy season.

But Jared West then nailed two long 3 pointers and that secured the win. I was shocked! I haven't seen that all season. Clutch play at crunch time. Cards win for just the 3rd time in 17 games.

So as I digest this rare feeling after a Louisville basketball game, I still think more about that 19 to 0 run by GT. It was such a sudden change in a game I have ever seen. It was like a lid was put on the Cards basket. They were playing too well so it had to be stopped.

Until Jared West and his new found 3 point shooting. His shot looks different. He seems to have made an adjustment and he's now the teams best 3 point shooter.

Now Virginia again. Man how I hate losing to them again. One of these days we're going to get serious payback on that program. Their fans probably aren't worried one bit about tomorrow's game. For them, Louisville is as much of a automatic win for them as it is playing William & Mary.

I for one am going to try and enjoy every second of the game tmrw night. I enjoy these conference tournaments. I hope we sneak Virginia one and keep them out the tournament. Would be a sweet feeling for many years of heart ache.

There were indeed moments in the game where the elevation on rebounds was clearly a result of our energy and motivation. The crisp passes in the half court offense was reminiscent of what I saw at times in the early wins over MSU and Maryland. However, that 19-0 run was equally reminiscent of what we have seen so often this season; what was different last night is the kids did not quit. The team on the the bench showed emotion that was most encouraging.

Weird season, weird game. It's as if they had flourished in basketball 301 yet forgotten about the final exam at the end of the semester.
Eighteen assists that led to a ton of good looks, but they lost their focus enough to let the angry, injured Yellow jackets back into it.

my son has a class at 7pm that i drop him off at and run home for 45 minutes so watched full first half and was amazed then heard the beginning of the second half on the radio as we drove home. as i told my son he could watch you tube vids on the big tv in the family room, i told him how Louisville stunk all year but was playing the most amazing game, they were up 27 points, dominating and i was going to watch the rest downstairs. by the time i got the tv on, lead was down to 13 or 12 and went straight down to 6. thankfully i was able to go back up and tell him we barely hung but what a feeling. it's like that moment of doing 90 on the highway and you're just flying thru traffic with ease, no one in your lane at all or they all move out of the way, then all of a sudden you see police lights in your rear view mirror and you start to panic as they approach fast, you slow down, heart racing and then the officer blows right by you and you sit there going whew, i think i better slow down to 85 next time.
