Perhaps the kids wanted to perform well on a Nationally televised game, or maybe it was a case where they were all super-focused at the same time. I know it’s a regular ACC series game, but the performance was both exceptional, and from a fan perspective, it was about as enjoyable as any that I can recall.
A poster in another thread pointed out the pitching strategy that CDM put together for this Sunday game was incredibly creative and most effective. While the pitching was as good as we have seen this season, those 3 double plays were critical in extinguishing any early threats that FSU could manage. Now for the hitting; the “bookend HRs” certainly secured the win, but it was those crucial hits in between that took the 5-2 lead up to 10-2 that told me that our kids were as focused at the plate as any UL team in my memory.
I have no idea how this up and down season will go from here, but yesterday was so satisfying and entertaining, that I am dialed back in.
