There have been certain posters who think that it is Petrino's goal to move towards a shotgun read/option offense as opposed to having to just use that to meet short-term skill set limitations. I present you with a quote from LJ Scott today:

A day after offensive coordinator Garrick McGee said freshman quarterback Lamar Jackson is improving in his ability to take the snap and operate the offense from under center instead of in a pistol or shotgun formation, Scott said the Cards have been practicing a lot in that more conventional, pro-style look.

"Right now we said as an offense that we're a better offense with the quarterback under center, so we've been doing a lot of stuff with the quarterback being under center as we've been practicing for the bowl, so that'll improve with our rushing attack," Scott said. "But at any time, we know we can always go to the gun and let Lamar be Lamar."

If Jackson wants to start next year, he better develop that skill and do it very well...additionally he needs to improve his pocket vision...When Pass gets here, he will press all the QB's...get ready for another summer of quarterback roulette.

I'm not sure there were posters who thought that read option is now Petrino's offense of choice. I recall the debate more that it wasn't the old pro-style-only approach and that what we were seeing this year was temporary. That debate was mostly with people who supported Bolin as QB.

For awhile, Petrino and McGee have both described their scheme as "multiple". Whatever that means in the traditional sense, I'm confident it also means that their scheme will incorporate various ways to attack a defense.

And by "ways", I mean pro style, read option, and whatever else it takes to keep the defense back on its feet and not knowing what to expect next. From a playbook standpoint, Petrino wants it to be as large and diverse as possible. It's also why they're recruiting and signing a different mold of QBs, although some still want to deny that...

Every QB Petrino has recruited this second go around out of HS has been Dual Threat...from Reggie Bonnefon, Lamar Jackson, Tylin Oden and Juwan Pass...

I've decided I don't care if we run the Woody Hayes offense as long as it gets W's.

Youngsters feel free to look it up. :D

Hmmmmmmmmmm . . . . 3 yards and a cloud of dust? Our offense is what the opposition at game time demands it be. I think CBP likes the dual threat guys because he can design a specific offense for a specific team (either us or them). In any case, I think he will be just fine going forward. ;)

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

This is completely false. Go to FB recruiting and check the offers. We have offered several prostyle.

And landed Bonnefon...Jackson and make no mistake the #1Target for 2016 is/was Pass and they accepted Oden verbal.

What i should have said wad everyone Petrino has landed were Dual Threat QB

Petrino doesn't necessarily want a "running" QB, but he clearly wants a mobile one. And that dates back to his fascination with Lefors and Michael Vick.

If he talks to or offers a pro-style QB, the kid better be able to move his feet...
