NYT: College football fan map [interactive]

that's pretty cool.

looks about how i would think. large state schools basically dominate the state while the regional schools (Louisville, Purdue, OK ST, etc) take their little chunks around the school.
 
Definitely an interesting map. One thing that kind of shocked me is how small the area is for UCLA football as compared to USC. I know about the tradition of Trojans football but UCLA is a huge school that has had some pretty darn good teams over the last 40 years.

Maybe the rest of the region and state hate the Bruins for their total basketball dominance back in the day. Since USC and UCLA are both urban schools it can't be the hate for the city school.

How about Duke? Wow.

Really only Miami seems to compare with us. We even have a bigger area of Kentucky than UVA has in Virginia.
