Going forward we have nothing to lose. We are firmly on the bubble at best, I think it's time DP mixes things up and goes smaller and younger. Anas has been given his chance and he is a huge offensive liability. He should only get spot minutes the remainder of the season, hopefully no more than 6-8 minutes a game when we have foul trouble w/Ray. If Ray is not in foul trouble he needs to get used to 36 minutes a game.

I think DP needs to give Nwora and Malik Williams more time, especially Nwora. IMO last night there were multiple times where I looked on the court and we had only two guys capable of scoring against a team as good as UNC. I think Nwora has improved, he's gotten better taking the ball to the rim and we all know his perimeter game is solid. He needs the minutes that Anas and McMahon are getting. I know that DP will not be the coach next season but if he were and I'm Nwora I'm transferring. The guy has delivered pretty consistently for a freshman this season only to rot on the bench the very next game. And I don't care to hear about his defense. Hell nobody's playing defense anyway.

I agree 100% with your assessment and changes need to happen vs Duke. This team's man D is just terrible. Playing a zone D 80% of the game can't be worse. It's just hard to watch based on our history with HOF Rick.
Now If DP wants to stay in Man then Perry, Nworwa and Ryan need more minutes with less for King and Q

Agree, But some how we have to fix the fact, we are giving up to many Offensive boards to the teams we are playing. Slow it down, these unforced turnovers are killing us.

I’ve said it all year...this team is far better off playing zone. They can’t play man, especially this type where you switch every time. They are slow afoot and get lost on a lot of switches . That leads to wide open shots and lay ups. The match up zone they used to play was always pretty effective.

Last night I thought Padgett really showed his inexperience. UNC is a very good team, and he got nervous and went with all his experienced players. As soon as Perry, Nwora, and Williams made a mistake they were pulled. That is the group that led to an uptick in play lately. He knew this wasn’t Pitt or Georgia Tech so he yanked them and went with experience. That didn’t work so well.

Bottom line is he has to find a defense that suits them best, and go back to a rotation that gives guys enough minutes to be productive and play to their strengths. Unfortunately he is running out of time.

While there is a decent amount of venting, etc this morning UNC is damn good. I think they are very capable of making a deep run come March.

If Padgetts future as head basketball coach wasnt decided before last night then that game surely had to be the nail in the coffin. Not so much that we lost because the home losses to FSU and Cuse were far more unacceptable, but that his players are so unwillingly to fight and leave it all out on the floor in front of the home court fans. Nothing more exemplifies this than not risking your body for loose balls and getting out rebounded by double digits.

I agree mostly with all of this. But honestly I don’t know if he’s really found or tried a rotation that has truly worked or represents our best lineup. Why he continues to keep King in there baffles me. If you’re going to play Mahmoud, he needs to be in at the same time as Spalding. They seem to pass well to each other. It should be Adel OR King not both. Adel brings more to the table than King. By default, I think you go with Snider at one guard. I think still our best option is to go with Perry at the other guard position but you live with one or two of his crazy shots if he continues to play defense.

Agreed. VJ just isn’t bringing anything to the table. Q, Perry, and McMahon need to be rotated at guard. Adel and Nwora at small forward. And Williams should get more run because he brings an element with his outside shot the other bigs don’t.

It will be interesting to see if he keeps riding his veterans against these tough opponents.

Perry has a riverboat gambler personality - high risk, high reward. I think his b-ball IQ is below average and I think he plays a bit of “me-ball”. He jacks up crazy threes and hunts shots too much for my liking.

Exactly spot on. This team tries to play fast with a slow pg, a 2g and a sf who can't dribble. Seems to me the best thing to do is slow things down and limit turnovers and possessions.

Shortcreek would you take the coaching job for 150k. Do this and we would do as well and same some money lol

Exactly. There was even an article about how the Cards were wary about the Heels transition game and then we come out and try to run with them? Either the players don’t listen (ding ding ding) or the coaches didn’t prepare them enough. I choose to think it’s execution more than lack of effort.
