No Matter What Else Happens

What I don't want to happen is having to play UNC in the ACC semifinals. They have been playing lights out and if they beat Duke tonight, Louisville would be the #1 seed in the ACC tournament. UNC the #4 seed.

I would rather face Clemson right now which would be the case if Duke beats UNC. As cool as it would be to say the Louisville Cardinals are the top seed in the ACC tournament, I think it may keep the Cards out of the final.

UNC has finally figured something out this season and former Cardinal Jaylan Withers has been a key part. They worry me more than Clemson.

We just need to get 100% healthy as we enter post season time! We do not have any control over who we play, and I am not afraid of anyone right now. Not intending to sound either arrogant or over-confidant, I just like the way this team responds to CPK and one another. For example, Stanford hit a couple of threes and a layup in a row cutting a comfortable double digit lead down to 9, and Kelsey calls a timeout that results is UL reasserting itself towards the 20 point win. While I know there is no guarantee that will always every time, I have witnessed it happen enough to appreciate this is not only an experienced senior dominated team, it has a level of maturity that tells me it is no coincidence these kids respond so well to Kelsey.

UNC looked really improved coming into the Duke matchup, and they gave a good account of themselves, until they didn’t. Aside from Duke, we are still the best team in the ACC and I hope we get a chance to play the Blue Devils with a healthy Smith.

Timing is everything. The AD deserves a ton of credit for understanding what Louisville needed in its program. It really did need a jolt of positive energy. He probably caught a break with May going to Michigan. He is a really good coach but he is pretty laid back. The right guy at a value price. Hiring coaches is a crap shoot especially when you go the route of a unproven coach at this level. It really couldn’t have gone better.

Kelsey burns hot so who knows how long he can keep this energy but I think the next 2-5 years will be red hot. Louisville has always supported winning.

Louisville catches the ACC in transition. Who knows how Miami and FSU reaches on their hires will go but boy are they taking a chance. It doesn’t appear other ACC schools are throwing enough money to basketball. They definitely aren’t making splashes with their coaching decisions. UNC is going to throw the bank at the portal this off season but Davis isn’t a good coach.

It should be fun to watch again.
