To be fair, his young defense grew up.
But it’s hard to defend his record.

I’m not arguing that BVG is a good or even average defensive coordinator. Here are some things working against him at UofL:

- extremely young defense
- defense that lacks talent
- defensive line that lost its top player
- defensive line that is not capable of playing in the ACC
- linebackers that aren’t quick enough to fill the massive holes our d-line allows to be open
- assistant coaches that were “gifted” to him including two close relatives of Petrino
