Friday night is usually very slow as far as college basketball goes. The Ivy, Colonial, Patriot, and MEAC leagues are the typical menu. I did notice an interesting matchup in the Big Ten. That would be the UCLA Bruins with Coach Mick Cronin @ Indiana Hoosiers under Lame Duck Coach Mike Woodson. UCLA is - 1 1/2 for this games that tips at 8 PM.
IU comes off at win at MichSt earlier in the week. The Spartans under Izzo one of the better teams in the league. Bruins off a loss at Illinois earlier in the week. So, the Bruins have been in the Midwest since early this week. Obviously not traveling back to LA for just a day or two.
Bruins have been playing great basketball prior to the loss at IL. Having won 7 straight Big Ten Games prior and look to be in good shape to make the NCAA Tourney. However, they can ill afford a loss to an IU team, that I feel will be going thru just the motions. This having announced that Coach Woodson is in his last season, in what has been a disappointing season, and tenure as HC!
Look for the Bruins to have more juice tonight. They certainly have more to play for, and the better Coach in Cronin. Cronin is a defensive minded guy, that has his Teams always playing physical ball. They will be simply too much for a soft IU team, that is poised to Tank down the stretch of the Big Ten season.
