"spidadmitchellI want to thank Card Nation for a great two years... I want to thank all the coaches from Coach Arjay to Coach Smith and everyone on the Louisville staff for helping me become the man that I am today and of course my sister Jordan who I love more than anything ... with that being said I have decided to forego my junior season and stay in the 2017 NBA Draft"

Many of us expected this to happen. I wish Donovan the best of luck.

Damn. Knew it was going to happen but now that its official I'm somewhere between angry and sad. Rick has missed out on two elite teams by kids leaving to be late 1st round draft picks over trying to win a title. Understand it from a players perspective but from my perspective it freaking sucks.

My hopes of a national championship in any sport in my time at U of L unfortunately have been flushed down the drain. Unless Baseball can get over the hump and get hot this year. Going into senior year this fall. Maybe something crazy will happen and we can get to the playoff in football, which is my favorite sport to support.

Here's his statement:

Thank you for a great two years Donovan. I wish you the very best in life. Go tear em up in the NBA.

You can't blame him for leaving with the post season meltdown this year and the NCAA nonsense the year before, as well as the continuing trouble. Carolina would never have done that.

This sucks, and IMO makes it even harder to get excited about BB. Hard to build a Champion when you don't know what kids may, or may not be around.

If FB ever goes to OAD, or even two and done, I'll not be excited about it anymore either.

Football is full of 3 and dones ( players who redshirt and only play two years and bolt)

Im not bitter 1% . Donovan and others are ready to start their professional careers.
There are tons of players out there. Next man up.

Its no different than the general students at UofL;
Some go a year or two, drop out and start working.
Tiger Woods, Bill gates, maybe Mark Cuban didnt finish college, i believe.

Sure id love to have seen Donovan come back, however its his life.
I was begging for Gorgui to come back, because i knew the Cards would have repeated.

Doesnt matter how many one and dones or two and dones or 3 and dones like Gorgui, Cisco there are-im watching every game and expecting Coach Pitino and staff to give the
chance to compete for a final four.

Happy for Donovan. Hope he's drafted by a lottery team.

It's why they make chocolate AND vanilla.

I've decided not to pour money into BB. And judging from the empty seats at YUM, a lot of people have. Maybe not because of the OAD factor, but it won't help.

FB may be close to out with me, but I like FB a lot more than BB. And, there not a world wide market for FB players, so the number of them leaving will be limited.

You all have a solid roster filled with young talented players. Next year you'll have a possible lotto pick in Adel and a senior point guard who can light it up. VJ king was a 5 star and I think he can step in and do well. Remember, Siva barely got minutes as a freshman playing behind Sosa and started to step up big as a sophomore.

College basketball is gonna be down next year, as in I don't see many "elite" teams that'll be favorites. All it will take is you all getting a good draw in the bracket and you all have a shot to make a run.
