Miracle on Main

After watching the video over on Cardinal Chronicle from the Miracle on Main comeback win over Marquette five years ago, it left me wondering about something. Why was Justice in the game instead of Siva? My memory is failing me because I know Siva played more than Justice that season. During that entire 5 minute comeback, I didn't see Siva at all. Did he foul out?

Siva had a miserable performance it was a coaching decision and once the team rallied to get back into the game Pitino wasn't about to go back to Siva. It was all about Knowles that day.

Siva had an up and down career. The highs outnumbered the lows, but there were some instances where he couldn't do anything right.

Here's the box score. Justice wasn't much better. I think it just boiled down to, Siva struggled so bad as the starter that day Rick through in the towel on him for the day.

Another curious thing is Russ Smith playing just two minutes. Nobody, including Pitino, ever expected what Smith would become. Van Treese and George Goode contributed more in this game than Siva and Smith. Truly weird.

Oh man I remember watching that game on TV. I thought for sure the Cards were going to get blown out and almost turned it off. Thankfully I didn't and was able to see the miraculous comeback win. I was cheering so loud when PK was bombing 3's from the outside and then of course the pass inside to Kuric for the winning basket.

Yeah I remember after that game many posters saying Justice should be the starting PG and that he was better than Siva and things like that. Siva just hadn't put it together yet. Same with Russ.
