Need IU or OSU to knock Michigan out.
Need Washington and WV to lose one more, and Cards should be in.

if we are not number 3 tonight we need to plan for the orange bowl. it is #3 or bust tonight.

Why is number 3 now so important? If we're behind OSU/Mich and Clemson now, that's irrelevant?? Either mich or OSU will drop when they lose and Clemson will rise above us if they win out with their plus one champ game. The importance is the muck behind the Top 5. Will Wash. still win out, will Wisconsin look impressive as 2 loss Big 10 champ. Those are the things to watch regardless of this week's ranking.

my point of view is , if we are not in the top 3 now, we will be passed by the big champ and still be under clemson because of the loss.
it would look like
bama
OSU
wisky/pennst
clemson
louisville

but it should look like

bama
osu
louisville
clemson
wisky/pennst

just my strong opinion

We need Michigan to beat Ohio St and then win Big 10 championship
Probably not going to happen now that they loss their QB
My thoughts are Michigan can win that game and lose the big 10 championship for all I care. That leaves one 2 loss champion and the big 10 would only get 1 representative. Also michigan's offense is predicated on the run from what I've been hearing so not as big a loss as you think. Look for OSU vs Michigan to be a defensive struggle. If it's high scoring OSU will blow Michigan out. JMO

I watched the Michigan vs Iowa game and as a team Michigan did not look that good. I have a feeling Michigan will lose two more games before the season is done. I think the main thing we have to do is win our games with a little more flair than what have been doing and we will be alright.

The 2 games that Cards fans need to be most interested in are in 2 weeks IMO, unless you think Wake Forest can upset Clemson, I don't. We have to root like hell for Michigan to upset Ohio St. If that happens it all but assures that the Big 10 only gets one team in the playoff.

The other game is Washington at Washington St. We have to also root like hell for the Cougars to beat the Huskies. That all but assures that the PAC 12 will get zero teams in the playoff.

The so called experts have been saying the Big 12 will be left out completely so the above scenario along with the Cards winning out fairly impressively leaves Alabama, Big 10 champ, Clemson (most likely) and Louisville.

Obviously we have to take care of business.

The thing about Wisconsin is they are not that impressive IMO and they do everything close (win or lose). Let's take a closer look at Wisconsin since this is about the only team that can keep us out.

W 16-14 vs LSU (who can't score)

W 54-10 vs Akron (who cares)

W 23-17 vs Georgia St ( nobody mentions this game, a game that they were trailing most of it)

W 30-6 Michigan St (good win, but now MSU is one of the worst teams in the BIG)

L 7-14 vs Michigan

L 23-30 vs OSU

W 17-9 vs Iowa

W 23-17 vs Nebraska (a team that got beat by nearly 100pts to OSU)

W 21-7 vs Northwestern

The rest of their schedule is trash.
Wisconsin is a team that doesn't score alot. They rely heavily on running and playing good defense. They are a more effective version of Wake Forest. They HAVE to play everything close so that they don't get exposed. To their credit they have done that. However, they have created a false perception that they should be included in the top 4 when they just aren't that good. They are top ten but not top 4. Louisville is a dominating force that is in the top 20 in every statistical category that matters. We are unequivocally BETTER than Wisconsin.
