Louisville basketball has landed some outside shooting help for the future in the form of Miami transfer Matt Cross, who committed to the program Thursday night.

A former four-star recruit, Cross’ freshman season came to an abrupt end on Jan. 28 when it was announced that he and Miami would be mutually parting ways. Before that, Cross was averaging 6.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He was the first freshman to start a Hurricane season-opener since 2013.

2021-22 Looking like

Forwards: Igiehon, Traynor, Withers, Wiznitzer, Slaz, Wheeler, James, Heijden
Guards: Nickelberry, Davis, Pettiford, Ellis, Cross

That's 13 by my count right there. I count that we need to lose 5 to get to 13. Are we on scholarship reduction?
It appears they'll anticipate transfers.

Draft: Jones, Johnson, Williamson, Williams
Graduate: Mineland

I guess maybe a transfer? Igiehon leaving then makes it where Sam or Charles are back, maybe a transfer

That's just my guess. Starting 5?

Withers
Slazenski
Davis
Nickelberry
Ellis

Traynor, Cross, Pettiford, Igiehon
Wiznitzer, Wheeler, James, Heijden

I think that's a very talented roster top to bottom. Not very experienced & lacking the true point, but long, talented, and can shoot. Possibly Charles back and Igiehon leaving gives him that one year he wants to lead and us our PG?

We still need an intimidator down low, someone that can push people and smack people around like Katina's ho's. I think our last legit one was Chinanu Onuaku, our last dominant one was Montrezl Harrell.

I think ncaa will allow extra scholarships for next season since this is basically a “free” year eligibility wise
I think the only ones that won't count will be guys that are taking that extra year.

Carlik, Malik, and Charles can all return and it won't count. A lot of people are saying Malik is coming back, but he's already had some injuries & he's been here for 4 years, I'm thinking he's out. Charles should be back.

So with any of those guys back, it won't matter, but say someone like Sam is back, then we'll have to have one transfer.

So don’t see Sam leaving he just now starting to prove how valuable he is.
I think Mack needs to sell the Nwora improvement from year 2 to 3. I think Sam really could come back and be an All-American. But Sam proving his value now, he won't see it as he needs to do it for us one more time, he'll want to know where he stands.

But, kids today will leave. He was a kid that thought he was a one and done, but had to stay longer. Draft stock rarely improves after the 2nd year. Seeing guys like Chinanu, Deng Adel, Jaylen Johnson, and others leave early makes me not too hopeful. Even Jay Scrubb jumped at a 2nd round pick.

Way too early to suggest any departures; Covid is still going to affect a lot of decisions.
