McNeely

I think it's pretty clear he won't be coming to Louisville now. Why would he share minutes with three high level guards?

I think Kelsey is looking for a PG to fill out the guard position. McNeely is not a PG.

McNeely was probably told there were others looking at Louisville and whoever commits first will get the spot. He apparently wasn't sure if Louisville was where he wanted to be.

Still a possibility. If Kelsey wants to use three guard lineups at times, as there are people saying that he does, then five guards works. The two guards already committed are both combo guards. and I think Kobe is as well. That's four guards that could then see time at pg, if necessary.

I think it’s best to leave the selection to the individual candidates. Until they announce their decision, it’s wide open; and even then it’s possible they will change their minds.

Remember, beyond playing time, the NIL $$$$ can influence their final decision.

There are many factors. Playing time really matters. In certain systems you can play 30 minutes a game at a high level. In other systems like Kelsey, Oats, and Pope probably can’t play 30 minutes without losing your legs. Ideally a team would want 6 dudes in the 1-2-3 spots. Some games that may 25 minutes other game it may only be 15 minute. Obviously the key guy in each spot is probably getting 25 minutes more times than not.

If they land McNelly at this point I would be surprised because Hadley hasn’t entered. If Hadley doesn’t enter the portal no way McNelly comes to Louisville. Just not enough room. Even if Hadley leaves it is still a stretch. Granted no matter where he goes he is going to split time. I am sure he wants to be on the side of 25-30 minutes.

I think we are set at the guard position with Brown, Conwell, Wooley and Rodgers so I think that rules out NcNeely. What we need now is another forward. Hadley is undersized and Pryor, although talented is unproven. Rooths had a good year but does he take the next step forward. I like to see a 6-8 big guy that can get us rebounds, block shots and can't get pushed around like Scott. If not Nate Ament then someone like him.

Nate Ament looks incredibly fragile and he’s not the 6’8 big guy that you described.
He’s built like Gumby and side show bob had a kid

Well, no one I know here is making the decision for the transfers. We're just commenting on it. Is discussing who may or may not choose UofL and why now considered inappropriate?

The entire purpose of this message board is to contemplate Louisville basketball and it's players, recruits and coaches. Isn't that what is best?

My post was only in response to your comment about: “I think its pretty clear he won’t becoming to Louisville now”.

You are 100% entitled to express your opinions, just as I am as well. I am not predicting what any UL candidates will decide, and you definitely do not need me to agree or disagree with your opinions.

Personally, I do not believe anything is clear about what any candidates will do who have not yet made official commitments, but I am not infringing on you judgements.

My last comment was simply answering your point about “not sharing minutes with other guards” ……… as I only surmise that these players today are not all motivated by any one single factor. For example, NIL money up front might be one influence that would trump playing time. I think your subsequent post essentially said that as well.

Appears you were correct in this debate. McNeely just committed. Glad I was wrong.

You know I respect you opinions. You're one of the good guys here.

Now let's go win a championship next season!
