I am coming in late to the party on this thread. Doctor stuff etc and life.

IRT the flu issue just taking Vit-C alone is not enough to combat the flu...use zinc and Elderbery with it and start early with first signs of feeling the onset of the bug works wonders.

IRT to the game...VT is and has always been a tough nut to crack on their home court....they were/are fighting for a spot in the ACC tournament so they had nothing to lose...after the sad/bad start they played with their hair on fire and very physical especially in the 2nd half on Chucky. He was being mugged evey time he tried to drive in the paint. A lot of grabbing, holding and pushing was going on.

To their credit, the Refs, IMO called it fairly both ways...VT got hot and starting hitting almost all of their 3 point attempts about 5 minutes into the 2nd half. As much as I dislike Jim B....he pretty much nailed it in his comments and analysis of the flow of the game....good and bad he was astutely honest about the Cards play.

Take away the 3 from Reyne, foul the heck out of Chucky and push the players around in the paint...that was the Hokie MO and they likely played their best game (vice the TO's) of the year for them. It was timely that Edwards hit his 2 three pointers when he did or the Cards may not have survived the Hokie kamakazee defense.

In conclusion....Winning an ACC road game at this time of year is hard no matter who they are or what their record is...hats off to the Hokies for not folding after their first bad 10 minutes of the game, and fighting the Cards tooth and nail down the strech, making the Cards earn a hard fought W. Survive and move on home.

Come home, heal up, learn and move on. Next!

I'd read it was the first time Cards have beaten VT since 2021 which is pretty astounding to me since I don't recall those losses much at all.

Still, even playing uncharacteristically bad in many aspects, it was a gritty grind it out win on the road in ACC play.

Likely the blueprint against us going forward. Coach Kelsey will probably have to add some wrinkles to shake Chucky free and Chucky will probably have to make em pay by drilling a few deep threes.
Otherwise, just make the most of every possession by being that great passing team.

I wanna blame the tired legs on the possibility that we've lost the battle for those 50/50 balls the last couple of games. I'm expecting to see the fellas return to giving one shot only and winning the 50/50 battles soon.

Our worst games have been when teams get physical with us. The loss to Tennessee, 2nd half vs. GT and FSU. Bangers give us trouble. We are OK with a relatively tight whistle in the tourney. I do not want to see Houston or Texas Tech in particular, along with Auburn. We have a fighter's chance against anyone else.

Glad to hear you are better. I recently had the flu, post COVID. Not fun. A lot of Alka-Seltzer Plus, sleep, plenty of covers and more sleep. I eat more fruits and veggies than most and I attribute that to helping ward off the worst of both virus. And I was vax'd.
