I was that fan that did NOT want to see Malik at QB. First few series against Florida St., I was ready to throw my TV, but after he settled down the kid played really well. Surprisingly, that TD pass to Tutu was as pretty a pass I've seen from any Cardinal QB over the years.

I'm predicting, if Malik wins against BC and continues to improve, I don't see him giving up the starting position anytime soon. 61% completion percentage, he just needs to work on reading the defense.

Is he a healthy go? I think he needs to trust himself and his receivers a little more, get rid of the ball like you said he throws a good ball and those guys can make some plays for him.

I thought something Satterfield said at his press conference this week was very interesting. He was asked about how you improve a QB’s accuracy at the college level, and he said that you don’t - by the time they get to this level they either have it or they don’t.

As far as I was concerned, that statement clarified the order of Malik and Puma when both are healthy. And Conley may eventually be better than either of our veteran QB’s since he’s clearly the type of QB Satterfield recruits.

Malik is “Lamar Light”. With game reps, confidence and better coaching I think he can be a decent college quarterback. Will he start next year? Who knows, but this year he may be our best option.

To me, this is the part that he struggles with the most, but it should improve as he gets more playing time. Lamar struggled in this area, but as he played more, he got better, and Malik should do the same. Having the week off hopefully accelerated this process.

I'm thinking Puma needs to get well soon. I seriously don't see Malik losing this battle if he plays out the season. Did you watch the "All Access Special" on the ACC Network? Did you happen to see the scorecard on that special, Malik graded higher or even with Pass every day, not once did Pass grade higher than Malik. I hate to say this, because I like Puma, but I wonder if the coaches were giving Puma every chance to do well knowing Malik was the better option. Knowing that Puma had the fractured ego from a season ago. I really think Malik take the reign from this point moving forward.

This is what many of us have been saying for a while now. Puma seems to be a good kid, and the QB position is prone to injury, so we need him ready if called on, but Malik is the better pure passer, as well as a more dynamic runner.

Now I'm not saying that Malik would be a starter for a lot of programs, but for our situation, moving forward, he gives us the best chance to win. And with Conley improving, he gives us additional depth as the season wears on as well.

I like his skill set but the one thing I wish he'd do better is throw the ball away. He kills us at times with unnecessary sacks.

I think Malik can develop into a QB who is every bit as effective as Bryce Perkins is for Virginia. I honestly believe that if he had not had the knee injury preseason that he would have beaten Puma out for the start against Notre Dame.

He did throw it away for the most part from the 2Q on against FSU. He also got rid of those happy feet. He showed marked improvement. I was impressed.

My take with Malik is to just settle him down. I think he gets so amped that his first reflex is to tuck and go. Once he learns to take what the defense gives him, I believe he's going to turn into a pretty good QB for us. I think the QB's next year are going to have a difficult time unseating Malik. Just my take on the situation.

I think it would be best to set aside the attempts to favorably compare MC to Lamar. He isn't in the same universe, and it is a disservice to him to make the comparison. It's true he may be our best choice, but Lamar is not walking through the door.

I agree. Let's let him be himself, let's see if he can lead this team to a win tomorrow.

I would hope (and think) that with him taking a majority of the snaps during practice for two weeks that he’d show some additional improvement tomorrow. Along with, of course, Evan Conley whom should also be better than he was two weeks ago. The bye week came at a most opportune time.

Malik didn't take any snaps last week, due to the injury. Just wanted to clarify that.

Can you explain how you know this or how you came about this information? It wasn’t his hand(s) that were injured vs FSU.

Satterfield said this at his Monday press conference.
