Louisville women's soccer got a goal from Maisie Whitsett in the 62ns minute of action to defeat visiting Miami in the ACC opener for both schools.

A match where Louisville dominated things offensively with 17 shots (compared to just three for Miami) and had several chances to score but got the one goal when Savina Zamborini sent a cross into the box that was deflected by a couple Hurricanes defenders and the ball bounced free just outside the six-yard box. Whitsett was in the right place at the right time and got her foot on it first, She tapped it inside the right post for the goal. The goal was Whitsett's third of the season to tie the team-high and gave the Cards a 1-0 lead.

A stellar job in goalkeep by Olivia Pratapus, who got her first start in her career and first shut out. The Cards have now held their last three opponents (James Madison, IU and Miami) scoreless and are now 4-1-2 on the season.

A bit tougher assignment awaits the Cards Thursday when they travel to #12 Florida State. FSU is 5-0-2 with ties against South Carolina and Auburn.
