Louisville vs Virginia game thread

6 point game, time for more tic tac calls. I would foul Salt 48% on the season at the line.

This was a poorly coached game we had the wrong players in the game way to long. They controlled the tempo the whole game with the exception of 5 minutes in the 2nd half.

To the team that beats Virginia in the big dance. I will buy your jersey and wear it for a day.
Virginia will get beat in the NCAAs - I bet prior to the E8. An outstanding regular season and disappointing post season is their calling card as much as their “hack line defense”.

Virginia played unbelievably well. We are too slow on close outs and we have guys that really can’t guard very well man to man. I would like to see some zone...as long as it’s an active zone. In the past we used to play an active zone and get lots of deflections.

I just mentioned that to my fiancé, they won’t hit like they did tonight and will be sent home. I can’t stand watching them play, I also wouldn’t really want Bennett here as our coach. That’s just me though

We went to the zone but it’s not effective if you are down 10 points or more. They just run the shot clock down and then find the mismatch to get an easy basket.

They shot their asses off. No way they will shoot like that in March. It's the only way they could win tonight and for some reason, the universe doesn't want Louisville to win against this team.

Poorly coached? We got to within 5 points because he sat the senior PG down who couldn’t play defense. Last couple of years against VA, the Cards have folded and lost badly. We didn’t quit although it wasn’t enough.

I know it's a long shot right now but I hope the Cards put a beat down on UVA at home on senior night.

Take UVA off their home court.....and call the fouls on them that they do commit but don't get called for.....and they are a very beatable team.

Without looking at their 3 points shooting %, I doubt they ever shoot them that good on the road. Did they miss any in the 2nd half tonight? IDK....seems like they made them all especially in the last 10 minutes.

WaHoo! Deja Hoo all over again....different year....same result for the Cards.:mad:o_O I strongly dislike that team and its style of play. Yuke!

You wouldn’t want a coach that is 21-1 and just beat Duke on the road? UVA has really good shooters and that what makes them tough with the D they play. Louisville has a good team and they are going to give the ACC fits.

I thought it was poorly coached because he left the wrong players in the game way to long. We also should have pushed the ball more and tried to control the tempo more. There was a 5 minute span in the 2nd half where we did that and we came back. It is not his fault that the wrong players were taking shots.
Spaulding taking that 3 pointer when we were down by 5 with 3 minutes left was really bad and cost us dearly. Sutton and Perry forcing the shots they did Adel 1 thing good 3 things bad that's Adel. Hopefully we will learn and get better and be ready at the right time. The players have recognize their strengths and use it and recognize their weakness and stay away from it.

No. It's like watching paint dry.

I wouldn't want Bennett as a coach he is great against teams he is familiar with but awful against teams he is not familiar with. That is why he does good against teams in the conference and bad in the NCAA tournament. That has to be so frustrating for the Virginia fan base.

We also lost the turnover battle 13-7. Ballgame............
Exactly, which is what we knew we had to avoid to have a chance. They hedge on the perimeter with two guys, forcing you to go opposite direction while thinking there’s somebody open. By the time that happens, they had closed on the guy and he’s not open any more. The only way to beat them is to make quick crisp passes, which is what we don’t do. We have too many guys who try to beat you on the dribble and that’s where the turnovers happen.

Ok, so let me get this straight... The object of the game of basketball, is to score more than your opponent. Part of that very complex notion (sarcasm) is to prevent your opponent from scoring while being as efficient as you can on offense. That is basketball in a nutshell. UVa, does this as well or better than anyone, yet it is watching paint dry?

As stated before they lose early in the tournament year after year. Personally, I like to win with style. Just not a fan of that brand of basketball at all.

Playing solid defense is overrated I suppose. Good luck to your Cards the rest of the way.
