I have been watching a lot of basketball this week men’s and women’s. I don’t see how some of these schools recruit the players they get because there is nobody at some of these games

This specific team, yet similar to many of Jeff's recent ones, comes out aloof. No movement, no aggression on defense, losing the open shooter, and more. They start playimg flat footed. I had to turn it off. Wish Jeff would play more fluid.

We started the 1st quarter off awful got down by 10 ended the quarter down by 3. Defense was awful to start the game Coach took a timeout and defense got better. Still look a little shaky Inhooe they get things in gear.

I guess it is good that they have spent almost the entire 2nd quarter focusing on Liz Kitley instead of the ballgame because we look absolutely awful. We look like this is our first game of the season, no offense, no rebounding, no defense we have gone backwards.

I like z Liz Kitley but let’s get back to the ball game.
Why? I'd rather look at Kitley than this Louisville offense.

Even during this streak, the offense just hasn't been good. This game they don't even look focused. Missing bunnies and wide open 3's. VT doesn't look any better than the teams Louisville has beaten during this streak, but when you can't score, you're not going to win.

Walz has to be as perplexed as he ever has been.

Down 9, 6-20 from the field w/8 turnovers mid way through 2nd Q. I don't know what we are trying to do with our half court offense.

Down 7 At the half but it seems like 20. Our half court offense is really struggling if we could get some rebounding we could get our transition game going. We look bad against a very average team Inhope the 2nd haftis better.

Hard to believe, but Williams, Roberts, Randolph and Berry combined for 1 of 12 FGs in the first half. Not sure any other D1 college women Team in America could have shot any worse if they were trying to miss on purpose.

Some poor shot selection for sure, but you can almost expect hitting “the back of the rim” even when getting open looks regardless of where they took their shots. Conversely, VT shot 54% in that same half.

I hate to say this and I hope I am wrong but with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter this game is already over. This team needs to do some soul searching because there is very little effort to go after rebounds or loose balls. When you’re not shooting well the only you can do is play good defense and go after the ball. Unfortunately this team is not doing anything except running back and forth going through the motions.

Well, if Tech is going to continue to shoot 63% from the field, we have no chance. We’re only within shouting distance of this team because we are destroying them on the boards 27-16. Only one made 3pter for the good guys in this one so far, too.

We won the boards because Va Tech shot 63% they didn’t have to rebound. I really don’t remember us getting very many 2nd chances after a missed shot.

North Carolina State blew us out at home and I watched the Virginia vs North Carolina State today and Virginia almost beat them in North Carolina today. We have a tough road coming our way.

Virginia just earlier this week beat this Virginia Tech team, so there’s no doubt that next game at Virginia will be tough for this UofL team.

Defense - not good. Yes, too many bad shots. However, when good shots were taken they just couldn’t make’em. Va Tech also shot lights out.

What i found to be disheartening was the team just didn’t look ready to play. Go bask and watch - instead of plays sharply making cuts and moving with purpose - they dragged ass. I could have guarded them today. Just looked lazy and uninspired.

Totally agree. They were not focused or determined. They were going through the motions, which has me thinking things are not so swell in the locker room. Could be the coaches or the players but there seems to be a lack of effort to improve.

This is why I think there's just something wrong in the locker room. There's no spark or desire as a group. Just compare to the men's team, which is as together as a unit I've seen in awhile.

Kelsey has his players on the same page where Walz apparently does not.

Jeff needs to look at his staff. There not what he had a few years ago. Sscouting, intensity, running an offense, steals... Are not what they do now.

I won’t go far as saying something is wrong in the locker room. I think they have been getting by. Today, they couldn’t recover. What I sense is a lack of leadership. While Olivia, I think, leads off the court - she doesn’t have the emotional demeanor to lead on the court. Well, that means…no on the court leadership. I think that is where this team is suffering s bit.

I agree we really don’t have an alpha on this team someone who is tough and a clutch when things get tough. I have nothing against Olivia or Nyla I actually think they do their part. I think where we are really lacking is a dominant inside player. We need to start looking in the mid majors for someone who is a proven big who would like to step up into the P5.

Start looking now for next year and start courting them before other teams do. We are getting bigs that are 6’4” and 6’6” but aren’t dominant at this level. We have good guards and wings but that is not enough at this level.

I don’t think Waltz is adjusting to the NIL-Transfer environment. Brought in one transfer and bunch of freshman. Don’t get it. Freshman are rarely ready unless they are elite. Roberts is really good but the rest aren’t ready. What was the plan?

They really don’t run a good offense. Zero player movement. They aren’t fun to watch.

I think coach thought he had enough experienced leadership with Olivia, Nyla, Marissa and Jayda coming back. So he hit the freshmen ranks hard thinking he would be OK. I like this freshmen class and if he can keep it together and get quality bigs he could have a special team down the road. He needs to think like CPK and get top players who have that tough mentality in the mid majors to transfer in.

Well, I mean little resentments or disagreements. Nothing big but just enough to create a riff in the comradaree of the team. Coach Walz has always had a roster of close teammates but maybe not so much with this group?

That's what I meant with locker room. That's why I'm thinking we're going to see several departures after the season. This group just hasn't gelled, even during a 7 game winning streak.
