With the nice weather we are currently having here in the Louisville area, why not go take in a Softball game tonight?
Holly Aprile's Louisville Cardinals bring in Bellarmine for "The Battle of Eastern Parkway" tonight at 6 p.m. The Cards are coming off a 3-1 record in the Cardinal Classic.
Bellarmine comes in at 4-7, having split a Sunday double header at Knights Field against Dayton and IUPUI. The Knights have seven Louisville area players on their roster and catcher Sydney Young (Lou. Assumption) is hitting a sparkling .405 for the Knights with two home runs.
The Softball Cards (5-6) have tackled an ambitious schedule so far this season and have already played two top-10 foes in Florida and Alabama. Louisville will look to bounce back from a puzzling 4-0 loss to Miami (OH) Sunday, where the Cards managed just four hits against the RedHawks.
Taylor Roby has been a do-it-all player so far. She leads the team with a .400 batting average and has hit four home runs so far. Her most recent home run landed on the top level of the berm. She has been in the circle longest while facing 129 batters.
Jennifer Leonhardt has taken a lot of pressure off of Roby by facing 77 batters and only giving up a .156 batting average. She has struck out a team-leading 22 batters. She has struck out nearly 30% of the batters she has faced.
Seating inside Ulmer Stadium is limited to 20% capacity, but there is plenty of room out on the outfield berm to view (and it' free !) , so pack a chair and come out to watch a little bat meets ball tonight!
