Louisville lands 4* DE Aaron Odom

If you look back at the rankings from players that are already here or have graduated, rivals seems to be the worst at ranking hs players.
I would like to see some research on that. Rivals gives out 4 stars sparingly compared to the other services who lump to many players in their star system. For instance, Scout has Aaron Odom a 4 star compared to 4 star Alabama recruit Labryan Ray. No one in their right mind would think these 2 players are on the same talent level much less both 4 stars, Rivals is much more determinate in who gets 4/5 stars. Scout and 24/7 give out stars like candy.

No reason to get caught up on the 3/4 star ranking, although I know many of us highly value the stars. As usual it varies from site to site, on each and every player, unless at very high end and 5's across board.

The beauty of this is that we have folks getting worked up that he is "only" a 4 star on 1 or 2 of the services. This right here is a direct indication our recruiting is getting on the level to lift championship trophies.

I like to attribute this to louisville's player development. We get guys that are raw with a good amount of potential and then get the best out of them. This is especially true with defense over the last few years. I agree with what was said that Rivals is a little more picky.

We have a walk-on who beat out a 4* player on the depth chart on the same team for the same position battle does that make him a 4*?

One service ranked him 4* early behind a 5* who started in the NC game, a JC guy who started in the SEC the next year in his state at his position, but no others ranked him and he is commonly accepted as not having been ranked so. SO it is all really about exposure, and a LOT of other factors.

Historically, on one team an un-ranked last minute walk-on recruit finished 3rd in the Heisman voting (they played for the NC while he was there)
All our players are 4-5* in my book!

Did landing Odom make the recruit open up? Or do we have a shot at landing the big guy and the staff let him know to look around?

We land a solid recruit and we are more worried about which rating service gives what star rating.......odd

Ive never been worried about star ratings. Never will be.
Lamar was a 2 star before his florida visit and then bumped to a 3 star.

Whoever listed him as a 3 star does not know how to evaluate talent.

Sheldon rankins was a 2 star player.

I hope this staf finds more 3 star lamar jacksons and more 2 star rankins type players.
