The punishment doesn't fit the crime, but due to UofL's high profile, there you have it. The NCAA's intent was to send a message to all other programs- run it clean. Lesson learned here. I doubt they sue, but they should, because someone inevitably needs to fight back due to the NCAA's inconsistency when it comes to these matters. But, if Notre Dame didn't, no one will.

I agree. NCAA made the example out of Louisville just like General Patton did to Edward Donald "Eddie" Slovik (February 18, 1920 – January 31, 1945), who was a United States Army soldier during World War II and the only American soldier to be: court-martialed and executed for desertion since the American Civil War. USA has no more deserters after that.

Do you think, we get rid of Addis? If yes, who will we use? Isn't ND using Under Armour now?
I doubt it wilkie. Kind of too late anyway. I would like to think the shoe company issue has nothing to do with why UNC skated and why we got hammered but why should I when Notre Dame got similar treatment? A substantial portion of the billion dollars the NCAA gets from ESPN is just pass through money from Nike, one of their two largest advertisers.

You better believe if they were taking away a title from ND they would have sued.

If they were going to make an example out of a high profile program they would have done it to UNC. A top program with history and storied lineage bs'ing their academics? You can't line it up any better than that. This all comes down to the fact that we cooperated and UNC denied until they died. And they are still breathing with all of their banners. The lesson here is to not cooperate with the NCAA if they ever come knocking.

How much of that is cash and how much is apparel? Also, it is now too late to worry about it. Should have been done long ago anyway.
Doesn't matter. You'll get a fraction of that--20% at best--going back to the marketplace now and finding another sponsorship.

Tyra's nothing but a useless numbers guy, but even he understands that...

Yes, now we would sign a new contract at a massive discount. As I said should have happened years ago but then Pitino would have had to start from scratch on his shoe money.

If I were the president of UL I would already be in contact with the ND president..get the ball rolling against the corrupt NCAA..you never know which schools may join the fight..

It is obvious that when the NCAA comes sniffing around a school needs to use the North Carolina playbook of lawyering up, don't cooperate, and lie. The NCAA rulings against Notre Dame and Louisville shows that there is nothing to be gained with cooperation and transparency with the NCAA.

Cooperation or lack of it had nothing to do with any of those situations. Think about it. The NCAA actually created UNC's defense for them. They were never going to punish them and apparently UNC knew it too.

The NCAA creates a defense for every school with their "cooperate and we won't be so hard on you" mantra. In this case, they just ignored their own policies and procedures. UofL, in their eyes, did everything they were supposed to do. And it back fired. Same with the Irish.

Never happen. Though he can’t use them - at least the ND president has balls. posthole is completely sackless.

It's almost comical there was insufficient evidence to take Powell to court but enough evidence to suit the NCAA to take back a banner when those that won the banner were not part of the mess.

I'm mad as hell, and not defending anything, but for clarity, laws and NCAA rules are separate. There are 4 unnamed players who were ineligible that played in games, including the national championship game, during the 2011/12 to 14/15 seasons. They have been disavowed from the program until 2021. We can all guess who those players are.
