Congrats to Lorenzo Ward for getting hired at Chattanooga. He might not have landed a P5 job but that’s ok.

I wonder what zip thinks.
zipp reiterates how amazing it is that an entire staff of coaches who reportedly didn't earn or deserve coaching jobs are all BACK in the game within months of being fired.

Fan comments are funny, esp. slapd!cks'...

Obviously they are worthy at coaching at some level of football, just not the level they were paid handsomely for.

Which is a changed narrative.

But which can't be proven or disproven by this same news/evidence...

Well, everyone here knows that the narrative I consistently had was that they weren’t ACC quality and were overpaid. I’ve been proven correct with every mid-level job these guys have accepted.

Nothing in what these ex-assistants are doing now has proven anything. Get back to me in a few years, and we'll have the discussion again...

I agree with Zipp, going from DC at South Carolina to Fresno State to UL to Chattanooga, by gosh, the man's career is on a remarkable ascent! But I liked Lorenzo as well and it's just a matter of time and he'll be back in either the ACC or SEC.

Was U of L a step up from Fresno, or was U of L a step down from USCjr?...

Once upon a time, in a land far away, UL was a step up. Getting dizzy with the up-down-up-down lol Excellent question in retort to my silliness through.

Wish Lorenzo the best. Felt he did the best he could given the situation, bro. The damn thing was broke and he tried to set a positive example. Appreciate him, bro.

Whats so amazing about coaches getting fired from a P5 job getting low level G5 and FCS jobs. The narrative about the coaches who didn't earn their job is that they didn't deserve to get their start here as this isn't the level of job that you are bringing in a bunch of coaches with no experience. Where they are getting new jobs is where they should have started. The staff did show they didn't deserve their jobs when they ran the team into the ground. No matter how you try and spin it, its the coaches' fault.

Well, that narrative is after the fact and I would make a million bucks every time I could say see “I told you so”. Funny I don’t remember you screaming these guys were overpaid when they were hired. Perhaps you just want a pat on the back..

Actually I expressed at the beginning of the season that I was concerned about the quality of the staff. Good try though.

I am concerned about inexperience and/or lack of track record from our assistant coaches (except Coach Summers).

Beginning of the season? That’s really going out on the limb. Where’s the the 2-10 prediction. Obviously you weren’t concerned about the direction of CBP or else you would have said something sooner or more than just concerned. I’m concerned every time I walk out the door. Oh wait. We had a guy named Lamar. Excuse me but you won’t win any awards as a fortune teller.

On the record, I knew after the 3rd game of krapthorpe that he sucked but I didn’t go around looking for any “atta boy!”

We all had reservations about one or more assistants. I've had questions about Petrino's ability to find a good D coordinator dating back to 1.0.

The narrative was that these guys couldn't coach. And if we're parsing evidence, knuckles also claimed to be "behind Petrino" at that same time...

Lol. You are really reaching. If you look back through the files, your big brother “Zipp” and I had an ongoing debate about whether or not the staff was ACC quality. So in retrospect I think it’s helpful to know where these guys got jobs so we can evaluate the merits of the initial discussion.

I respected Coach Petrino’s coaching acumen greatly. I think his arrogance in his own abilities and his horrible personality finally caught up to him this past season. He couldn’t recruit an ACC quality staff because of his personality and he arrogantly thought his genius could rise above a subpar staff.

We are all overly versed now in what CBP did and didn’t do. What we can’t accept is that you want to take credit for knowing it or predicting it. Instead of looking back into your crystal ball, why don’t you go record and tell us everything that’s going to happen next year. If you can provide some real substance, I’ll ask you for your lottery picks.

Getting a little salty are we? Feel free to look through several months of threads discussing whether the staff was ACC quality or not. Has nothing to do about what I predicted.

So given what we know now do you think the staff was ACC quality?

I don’t know what’s going to happen although I’m expecting the team will be better coached. I’d set an over/under of wins at 3.5.

So why worry about what you thought. I don’t know if they were “ACC” quality. Not sure what’s that mean anyways. Does it mean less quality than SEC coach quality? Bobby coached there you know. They were hired as ACC coaches so I guess they were. Is Stoops a SEC quality coach? I guess so. He coaches in the SEC.

I would argue that just being hired by ACC school doesn’t necessarily make one ACC quality. However if that’s the standard you use, then that’s your prerogative. I prefer to looked at their experience and achievements relative to their conference peers to evaluate their quality. The last Petrino staff at UofL didn’t measure up. Of course we saw that in the on field results but also in the level of jobs they are currently landing.

You're right. That's the horse $hit knuckles and others are trying to shovel as these former coaches have all been hired in new football jobs.

As I've challenged many times with no responses... Let them present as evidence football staffs from other schools that have been fired and who land in equal or better jobs immediately. It doesn't happen...

I’ve presented the staffs at Colorado and Arkansas so you can retract your bs statement that “I’ve challenged many times with no responses”. Nice try ““Zipp” but you are wrong again.

And I responded with the example of Georgia when Mark Richt was fired there. Yes, "Zipp" is definitely wrong about his claim of not receiving any responses here. On the other hand, he got dunked on so much with those examples that maybe he simply didn't want to remember.
