Is this a trap game?

It's Senior Night. They're currently on the "Last 4 out" list on BracketMatrix.com. A win over us and at VT puts them on the Bubble going into ACC play. They've played competitive recently:

Beat Pitt on Wed. at home.
Lost to Duke by 5 on road.
Lost by 12 at Clemson (ok not so good).
Beat NC State by 30 at home.
Lost by 7 at ND.
Beat GT at home.
Beat BC on the road.
Lost at home by 2 to Duke.
Lost at Syracuse by 5.
Won by 5 at NC State

That's going back a bit. They've won their last 3 home games. They're (mostly) beating the middle/bottom of the league teams right now, and losing close ones to the Top 25 ACC teams.

Pitino usually has the team dialed in for this kind of game. We rarely lose to unranked teams, even on the road when the other team is desperate.

Are they a dangerous team or bad and those are just random point spreads?

We good, but not good to take any ACC

We good, but not good enough to take any ACC game on the road for granted. Maybe their offensive guru will sent us a few play diagrams a day or two before tipoff

This is easy. Win the last 2 games and we get a double bye in the ACC tourney. At this point with this much on the line, there is no such thing as a trap game. Wake Forrest has been competitive in most every game they've played this year. Playing the Cards on their Senior night means they will be jacked up emotionally. We'll have to match that level of emotion and withstand the early surge. Once the emotion of the game wears down, the Cards should be able to take control of the game.

Louisville got it done on the road vs Arch Rival Syracuse that was looking for a win. Cuse is a very good team at home in ACC. And Louisville got it done.

This is another must win for the double bye. Hopefully everyone on Louisville is locked in on wednesday and we pull out the W.

Wake Forest will be hyped up too.

Just hoping so much we can win this game and our Louisville Cardinals take it 1 game at a time and for now, finish the regular season strong. No need to look ahead to anyone. Game by game.

Get it done Cards!

this is a must win for us, and it is a must win for them as well.
To be honest, I don't think it is a must win to get the double bye. Yes we need to win either at Wake or at home against ND but because of the remaining games in the ACC, odds are if we only win one remaining game we will still get the double bye. Duke has FSU and UNC. FSU has Duke and Miami. UNC has Virginia and Duke. We have tiebreakers over Duke and Miami. But the double bye is not our goal, it's one of them but a share of the title is still possible so let's win out!!!

We can not lose this game and expect a high seed. So it is a must win for us. Lose this game and we are a 3/4 seed.

We are right now a 2 seed. Lose to Wake and maybe we become a 3 seed, that's it. That's all one game means at this point, until the next, so no it's not a must win, per say.

One game at a time for sure, but IF the Cards can win these last 2 games then win 3 games in Brooklyn to finish the season 28-6 including the ACC tourney championship, the Cards will be in strong position to move up to a 1 seed.

Drop both games then lose the opening game in the ACC tourney and the Cards slip to a 5 seed.

The games are crucial for seeding. Absolutely crucial so with that in mind, I agree with Beasley. The next game is a must win. The next 5 potential games are must wins IMO to grab that elusive 1 seed.

I'm going to go zipp on ya! Don't change the target. Most of this thread was about getting the double bye. We are almost assured of that. To get a 1 seed, we practically have to win out. Yeah if we lost every remaining game we would drop a ton in seeding..

Which makes this wake game a must win. Great thing is we abuse teams we are supposed to beat.

The double bye is right there for the taking, but a loss at Wake Forrest would mean playing Notre Dame for that right. I don't like that added pressure. Win at Wake Forrest tomorrow night and the pressure for the double bye is all but gone. We're still playing for seeding though. We can only drop 1 game including the ACC tourney and expect to still get that 2 seed. Win out and we'll have a chance at a 1 seed.

Haven't seen WF, but they sound tough, they are at home and they could really use this win. Sounds familiar. We need our bigs to be able to battle on the board and hold their own against their big man Collins.

Keep pressure on their shooters, keep them out of the lane.

Get the ball inside on offense, draw a few fouls. Who knows maybe get Collins in foul trouble.

Gonna be a tough game. It would be a very good win.

Cue, I'm not trying to insult you but you do know that four teams get the double bye? Right now with Miami losing last night only Duke is now 1 game behind us coupled with the fact with who plays who left we would have to lose both games to not get a double bye. In that respect you can lose to WF (not that I want to) but then you would have to beat ND. That game would be a must win.

Not insulted at all nccardfan. Actually we're saying the same thing. Win at WF and the double bye is ours. Lose to WF and then the ND game takes on a bigger role. We could lose both and STILL get that double bye, but if that happens, our seeding will slip from what we all consider to be a 2 seed right now.

To tell you the truth, we might want to wait and see what the actual seed is before we count it as a fact. I will never forget the year the Cards were ranked 4th in the country and got a 4 seed when everyone was saying we were a 2 seed lock with some talking heads making the case for a 1 seed. Talk about pure disrespect. That was it. with all the off court issues recently w/ hookers and stuff, I'm not counting on anything until it's fact.

I wouldn't be shocked if the whistles go against us tomorrow. Being that the ACC wants WF in the postseason, them losing would significantly hurt their chances. I'm not saying the ACC wants WF to win and will have the deck stacked against us, but what I'm saying is the ACC wants WF to win and will have the deck stacked against us. Hope I'm wrong. I hope things don't work that way, but I think we've all seen it before.

LOL. I know what you mean. We continue to get 'the new kid on the block' treatment too especially on the road. WF is either a founding member of the ACC or one of the first so they have that going for them. You just have to fight thru that crap and figure out a way to win the game. That's the true meaning of winning on the road in the ACC.

I have seen several of their games on TV. Marbles assessment at the start of this thread is pretty accurate. Wake is a good team that has played tough even in the games they have lost. We have to play great D, and not give it away at the foul line.

Vegas doesn't give the Cards a great chance of winning tonight. They have the Cards a 3 point favorite, and when you consider the home court for Wake, that means this game is basically a coin toss type of game.

I'm nervous about this one now.

Yep and now the line just went to -4.

The Cards best bring it tonight or they'll be headed back to Louisville with their 7th loss of the season.

Got to think though, we're favored even after the 3pt home advantage Wake gets, so it's actually roughly 6-7 favorite.

Which is surprising to me. I figured it would be decreasing to -2, -1, PK
