LouisvilleWomen's Lacrosse entered the ACC Lacrosse Tournament as the #8 seed, so they drew the misfortune of drawing #1 seed, 15-0 North Carolina yesterday in first round ACC Lacrosse Tournament action.

Could it get any worse? Sure -- the game was being played on UNC's home turf and it was the opening game of the day.
The Cards tried, though, and actually achieved a 1-1 tie early on when Caroline Blalock scored. After that, though, UNC and their roster full of high-school All-Americans went to work.

They held an 11-5 halftime lead and then ran off eight unanswered second half goals before Blalock found the net again for Louisville with less than 30 seconds to play. Final: UNC 19 - Louisville 6.

As bad as the loss was and despite the 5-11 record, the Cards are "on the bubble" for an NCAA Tournament appearance. There are 14 "st-large" berths in this year's NCAA Lacrosse Tournament and the ACC is uniformly recognized as the best women's lacrosse conference in college lacrosse. It's conceivable all eight participating schools in the ACC could receive NCAA Tournament bids. All were ranked in the top 25 pre-tournament.

Paulie over at Cardinal Couple has been doing post-game remarks with head coach Scott Teeter all season and thanks to him for letting me share yesterday's comments with you here. Teeter is on the right path to making Louisville a bona-fide contender in ACC Lacrosse and continues to recruit well. What was it "The Pipe" said? The only variable is time...
