This one was just weird from the start.

Syracuse usually plays their home lacrosse game in the Carrier Dome, but, due to a Monster Truck Jam scheduled for the facility, the match was moved to nearby Christian Brothers High School's football field.

At first, the outdoor venue seemed to be just what the Cards needed to pull off the upset over the #4 Orange.

Syracuse scored first, but back-to-back goals from Scott Teeter's Canadian connection (Hannah Morris and Nicole Perroni) gave the Cards an early 2-1 lead. The Orange got one more in the first to even the score 2-2....and that's how the first quarter ended.

Louisville got off to a promising start in the second as Morris and Perroni went back-to-back for the second time to take a 4-2 lead. With the rain falling down, the second quarter ended up being a back-and-forth contest. The Cardinals and Syracuse traded goals the rest of way. Morris and Perroni providing the offense and scoring two straight goals for the third time of the half to tie the contest at 7-7. Syracuse netted a final goal of the half, sending the Cardinals into the locker room down 8-7.

The expected scenario finally made an appearance in the second half.

Perroni did score to start the second half, tying the game 8-8, but Syracuse outscored the Cards 12-3 in the third quarter and would go on to win 23-13.

Scott Teeter put the loss squarely on himself:

"For the first 30 minutes, we played really well and hung right in there with the No. 4 team in the country, I got a yellow card in the second half, which really provided Syracuse with some momentum, and we had a hard time overcoming that, so I take full responsibility for today's loss. There were some positives today, I thought our defense played well, especially in the first half, but we have to improve on the draw and with our saves."

The Cards lost the draw control 28-10. Morris ended up with six goals for UofL, Perroni five. With the loss, the Cards remain in eighth place in the nine-team ACC. All nine teams qualify for the ACC Tournament later this month (Weds., April 27th.), the opening round pits #8 vs. #9, with the winner moving on to face the #1 seed a couple of days later. The Tournament is being held at Notre Dame this year
