Louisville Lacrosse was eliminated from the ACC Tournament by Pittsburgh Wednesday 13-10 in the first round.

The Cards have had difficulty in finishing games this season after gaining leads and then losing them and that was the case against Wednesday.

After allowing the Panthers to score the first two goals of the match, Nicole Perroni went on a 3-0 run by herself to give the Cards a one-goal advantage before Pitt evened the score to close out the first quarter.

The second quarter was rough. Louisville's offense failed to score the enter period while the defense struggled and allowed four goals.

Louisville never regained the lead and was never able to get within three goals in the second half.

The Cards end with a 7-11 mark on the season in head coach Scott Teeter's fifth season.

In his first season at Louisville in 2018, the Cardinals won five of their first six games before finishing the season with a 6-11 record. He guided freshman Caroline Blalock and senior Emily Howell to All-ACC honors.

In 2019, the rebuilding Cards went 5-13 and Tessa Chad earned All-ACC honors.

Louisville went 5-4 overall in a shortened 2020 season. The Cardinals recorded wins over Vanderbilt and Marquette, two teams they lost to the previous season.

In 2021, Louisville finished 5-11 overall against one of the most challenging schedules in history.

Playing in the toughest conference in DI women's lacrosse, the Cards will look to continue the rebuilding process.

For Louisville, a 7-11 season fell short of expectations. The Cards had four losses come by a one-goal deficit and lost a match by three goals and four goals each.

Scott Teeter's squad loses both Sarah Blalock and Caroline Blalock to graduation. Paige Richbourg, Hannah Morris, and Kirsten Parker are all listed as seniors, but all three still have the COVID-19 year of eligibility if they choose to elect to come back.
