Don’t agree with our final offensive possession. Snider has been killing it off the dribble, he’s pushing the ball with minimal pressure on him and we’re down two. ATTACK THE RIM. Instead we try to set up McMahon for a three??? Who, by the way clearly struggled the whole game! I don’t get it.

I like the three attempt there. On the road, go for the win.

Would have agreed with you until the end of the game. Then Q couldn't do much right (nor Adel)...

There were a couple of times it seemed that Snider didn’t want the ball in his hands..

The last play would have been gold if he pumped faked the guy...

Ray was a beast on the boards for awhile but on the offensive side, he was fumble fingers on a couple of plays. There was one play that should have ended in a thunderous dunk but he took his eye off the ball.

Spalding had 2 turnovers in a game he played heavy minutes that went OT, and hit over half his shots.

The perimeter players got swept away with the moment and got caught doing a lot of dribbling to nowhere and 3 pt settling on a night the 3 ball was not going in. I think there was a vibe they were just waiting for a McMahon dagger that never happened.

The Cards also left points at the FT line which the OP astutely mentioned in another thread.

All in all being in position to win and Miami getting the circus shot to tie it in regulation was a good effort for the Cards.

Cards had a 26% chance of winning and were a 4 1/2 point underdog. We weren't suppose to win that game even though we easily could have had the free throws percentage been on par with the season average. Coach can use it as a learning/teaching moment and learn from it too. We have some tougher games coming up. Learn from this one and it might pay off later on.

If McMahon does anything with the ball besides hold it at the end of regulation we probably win. I wonder if he knew Miami had the possession arrow at the time. That turnover was critical.

He was trying to draw the foul, I don't blame him for trying that.

Not to blame the official, but Ryan got fouled on that play and they never actually tied him up for a jump ball. It was a quick and incorrect whistle, but that's the kind of crap that happens on the road. In hindsight, Ryan would have been better off trying to dribble out of it.

McMahon has been clutch all year, this time it didn't work out. A great FT shooting team (us) shoots FT's poorly. A poor FT shooting team (The U) shoots them well. A steady senior (Q) chokes and drives with nowhere to go and throws it away. It happens.

Coach P should sit down with Ryan and have him study film of Luke doing the pump-fake on the 3PTA. Forget this bad game - they happen. Ryan is a feared shooter if you are a defense. Ryan could have double figure games from free-throws if he masters that pump fake.

That’s actually what got him the 3 foul shots where he only made 2. I guess he didn’t think the guy was going to close on him so fast or he thought he didn’t have time to fake, but yeah Luke was a master at it.

Let’s also not forget that the missed offensive goaltending call was big. Ball was still in the cylinder.

Ray was "gassed" late. I don't have the minutes available in front of me, but IMO he looked gassed running the floor late. Then when he shot those 2 free throws BOTH short, I said to myself "yep, this guy is tired".
When people say and I thought so too that we should get the ball more to Ray, that’s another area of his game he needs to work on. He’s going stronger to the rim now but he doesn’t call for the ball like I think a dominant big man should. Adding muscle would go a long way to giving him the confidence he seems to lack.

Seems like Rays key to offensive production, along with strength, is his ability to slow his moves down when he gets the ball. You can tell Dave has been working on that aspect of his game. He had done it all too frequently years prior, getting the ball, looking nervous with the ball and jacking it up hurriedly, as opposed to slow drop steps, spin moves creating space, etc. He's 100% better at it now and that baby hook is becoming lethal. But at times, I think I saw it rear its head game before last, he got in a hurry down low and it affects his shot. There is no doubt in my mind that this kid has improved more than any other player on the team from last year. Just slow it down a little bit Ray.

That's a good point. Not sure how much gas anybody had left in the tank.

People are pointing to a lot of factors last night. I thought a huge play was McMahon getting tied up, gotta be strong with the ball. Also, he waited to be trapped thinking he would get the foul call. The opportunity to split the trap was there as the defenders approached!

Agreed, the jump ball was the game changer.

I will also adjust one of my thoughts, not everybody was tired in OT. King played 13 minutes and wasn't in foul trouble. Yikes.
