Since Fantasy Football is pretty much locked in at this stage, I used the time I had normally reserved on Tuesday evenings scouring the waiver wire to look under some rocks for interesting head basketball coaches. Which led me to look at all types of head basketball coaches.

There are some out there for sure. And this list is by no means exhaustive. Just what I found, f**king around on a Tuesday night.

"SMALL" SCHOOL DUDES

Darian DeVries -- Drake

17 years under Dana Altman and Gregg McDermott
6 years at Drake
Going for back-to-back NCAA tourney appearances
Missouri Valley Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2021

Takayo Siddle - UNC Wilmington
37 years old
Hargrave Military, to NC State assistant, with Kevin Keats aka Pitino Ball
Back to back 20 win seasons
CBI Champs
Just won in Rupp

Matt Langel - Colgate
13th year at Colgate
4 NCAA tourneys in last 5 years
Fast-paced, behind-the-arc efficient offense
Led Division 1 in 3-point shooting percentage last season at 40.5% (Doesn't this sound awesome?? Man.)

Bob Richey - Furman
6th season at Furman
Winning records all 6 years, and 20 win seasons in 5.
NCAA tourney in 2023
Upset 4 seed Virginia 68-67.

Joe Pasternak - UC Santa Barbara
Averaged 22 wins in 6 seasons there
Former Arizona Asst
Widely respected as a recruiter
Adapted to Transfer Portal while retaining key talent on current roster

Ben McCollum - NW Missouri State (Div 2) A nod to @Sultan__of__Swine
This is Sultan's find last year.
5 time Div 2 Coach of the Year
4 time Div 2 National Champs
But he got knocked out in the second round last year, he should be FIRED!!! lol

"BIGGER" SCHOOL DUDES

Steve Pikiel - Rutgers

Making Rutgers relevant, no easy task. Snagged some bad ass recruits this year too.

Kevin Willard - Maryland
Pitino guy, turning the Terps around

Johnny Dawkins - UCF
Who knows.

Jamie Dixon - TCU
Pitt should've never let him go. He's made the Frogs relevant in a deep Big XII.

Jerome Tang - Kansas State
Amazing first year as HC. Long tenure with Scott Drew at Baylor. Knows how to build (rebuild) a program. Won a title as an assistant at Baylor. AND ... just this week, the K-State president forced Tang to boot his best player over a relatively innocuous incident from last spring. Tang may be looking to bolt after that deal. I know this -- the K-State fan base is ready to KILL their president.

Dusty May - Florida Atlantic
Survived being a student manager at Indiana for Bobby Knight. Is 7 - 1 this year off of a Final Four run last year. 6th year at FAU. Only 46 years old. Assistant at Murray State and Florida among others. Could be a fantastic hire.

"MAKE A STATEMENT" HIRE TYPES

Jay Wright

He's a pipe dream. I think the Portal and NIL made it easy for him to hang it up. But he'd def be a statement.

Tommy Lloyd - Arizona
This guy has been nothing short of fantastic. Hiring him away from Arizona would be a boss move.

Scott Drew - Baylor
Rebuilt Baylor from the ashes, and won a national title. He could be looking for a change of scenery, and new challenges. Who knows.

OK .... that's enough for now ... I didn't even look at SEC coaches, but I am positive there are a handful who would jump at the chance to coach us.

We will have our pick.

But some of those young, smaller to mid pack school coaches look pretty good right now.
