If you get a chance to listen to the Jonathan Blue interview on the "The Deener Show" I would recommend it. Blue is pretty forthright in calling out the previous administration over their unwillingness to engage wealthy boosters concerning coaching hires and program decisions. Whether Blue is right in criticism remains to be seen, but just hearing that there evidently was a change in how the Athletic Department interacted with boosters compared to Tyra and Jurich was very interesting.

Blue also explained his reasoning for his top 3 candidates: Kevin Keats, Mick Cronin, and Kenny Payne. He said KP was his top pick, especially with him now getting the NBA coaching experience. He cited that Rick Pitino and John Calapari both have the NBA on their resumes and that goes a long way kids these days.

He spoke about Mack and that he thought he was one of two best choices for the job at that time. He was surprised how that turned out. Blue mentioned the Mack at the Bengals sports bar video from Sunday and said he was surprised by it. Made a reference to Mack's energy in that video compared to what the last 4 or 5 games looked like.

Lastly, he touched on how important it is that we get this hire right. He cited the importance of having Larry Benz back on the BOT and that the ULAA is the more important board in making the decision of the next head coach.

Say what you want to say about Blue, but the guy is passionate about UofL athletics.
