They can light up the scoreboard for sure. They also got lit up big time defensively last year.

Maybe our defense can have a Notre Dame performance from last year.
Yeah but their D held up pretty well against the Hoosiers in the Outback bowl game. But a lot has changed. Can’t wait 26 days and counting

We'll have to score 40-50 to win this game, maybe more. This won't be an indictment of our defense, because Bama couldn't even stop them last year.

If this was the 2020 Cards, we'd carve them up with our guys. But in 2021, we will score because they're just plain awful, but can we just score at will against their better athletes? To be determined.

I disagree with most. I think this game is a lot lower scoring. first game of the year Ole miss is without their best WR last year, they do have Ealy and Corral who I think are some of the best at their position in the country. Louisville's game should be pound the rock and eat clock away from Ole Miss. I think the game ends like 31-27 at the max. I think louisville's defense ends up top 30 this year

I can get into some thinking like this. I’m hoping we have the 31 pts in this scenario.

Red zone will be the difference here...in long field situations I think this will be a push; but when the D gets compacted I'm not sure where our options will be...the O-line will have to do some work here for us to get consistent points. It will be a big sign of how the season goes.

I'll have what you're having. If it's that easy to shut them down, then we need to start talking New Year's Six.

This is not Notre Dame where we can pound and slow them down. They will score at will, not just on us, but on everyone. Jaire Alexander ain't in the secondary.

In a perfect world it will be that easy, but in reality? They scored on A LOT better teams and even if our D is better, we aren't close to being as talented or as fast.

IF we're going to win, we're going to score.

Vegas has the over/under at 74 1/2 which is a huge number and the spread now at 9. That would correlate to Ole Miss- 42 Louisville-33. Obviously that’s just the lines.

I think our defense is going to have a really good year and surprise a lot of teams but they are up against it in the opener.

I predicted a loss in this game so I’ll say 37-31 Ole Miss. If we pull off the upset, Look out!

The real strength of this Ole Miss football team, is their returning offensive line, which was responsible for a very effective running game last year. This will be an excellent opportunity to see if our undersized, but reportedly quick and athletic DL can neutralize their ability to run the football.

Yes, Red Zone and Turnovers.

No one said they were easy to shut down by any means but first things first its the first game of the year and odds are they wont be clicking in mid season form, second thing is they have to figure out how to replace a 1st round guy in Elijah Moore who was an absolute problem, and lastly their defense is not hard to get a drive going on, its not hard to believe that we take and extremely slow game pace and give Mitchell 17 carries while the other guys work in and try dominating the game in TOP because I can tell you one thing if Louisville loses TOP there is a damn near 0% chance they win that ball game. Their defense is so bad that they gave up 41 to UK and their offense had been neutralized to an extent last year by some teams including Indiana, Arkansas, and Miss St.

Don't see the Cards having any serious chance of winning. I think we will see some promising things but in the end, Ole Miss is good enough to win going away. There's maybe a small chance they could overlook the Cards but Kiffin won't allow that.

Ole Miss 38

I see what you're saying from a "Best Case for Louisville Scenario" situation. But I'm evaluating from a "if both teams play well" situation. But like saying they gave up 41 to sUcKs, we also can bring up the 46 points we gave up to Georgia Tech. Neither matter overall, but it means both teams weren't good defensively last year.

There's a reason the spread is where it's at and it's because they will have the most explosive offense in the nation. And they were playing a much tougher schedule that most everyone last year. And until our defense proves they can face a team with athletes like Ole Miss and slow them down, I can't really have confidence. We are better, but we still have a gap in size, speed, and depth. Now we can face a ground and pound team like ND and do well and we can feel good against BC, Wake, NC State, etc. but teams with superior athletes have just killed us the last 3-4 years.

Please let us remember that they have to stop our offense as well. That was their weakness last year. This will be an entertaining and close game to watch. We WILL be better than last year and it’s a mistake to under estimate UofL football this upcoming season. 😎👏

GO CARDS!!!

I can handle a loss. But, if the Cards look lost or unprepared, then we've got problems.

If you want to go by last years results we were handled by Miami and GaTech but we were in every other game. We showed excellent improvement from the beginning until the last game. That kind of improvement is CSS’s trademark established at App.State. I fully expect that is what we will see this upcoming season. And in typical arrogant sec fashion I fully expect ole miss to under estimate UofL and that will be their undoing. 👍👏

No, I won't be down if that's the case.

This is going to be a year of transition. A lot of new freshman and an entirely new offensive staff. New skill players trying to find roles and transfers on defense. If we come out early and look lost, it'll be ok, but if we look lost against Boston College after the bye? Yeah I'll be a bit worried. This is going to be the time we feel the pain of the 2019 class Bobby ruined combined with the transfers and giving Scott a late start in the 2020 class because he had to just go and try to get everyone he could.

This is the first freshman class Scott finally has the guys he wants to build his style. We have to patch work of transfers and holdovers from Bobby to bridge the gap, but this roster over the next 2 seasons will just need to show growth.

If it weren't for the covid extra year rule combined with the number of impact guys satt has gotten through the transfer portal in guys like Tre Clark, Monty, and hopefully Duncan I would agree. Then you look at guys like bently and Avery who we are getting an extra year also I think chandler is in that boat too but cant remember. Also we have more depth on the offensive line then I can last remember. There will be some young guys thrown into the fire but overall our team this year is better then last years minus the offensive playmakers like Jhawk, Tutu, and Dez in which we saw a few games without Tutu and Jhawk and we looked fine.

Not sure yet if the results will be better in terms of wins and losses for 2021 season, but I do believe this upcoming football roster is significantly deeper and more experienced at most every position other than WR.

I love what Mark Richt said about this UL team; it has the ability to be a surprise in ACC competition.

Gotta love Mark Richt. Whenever you listen to him on the ACC Network he’s always boosting Scott Satterfield and the UofL program.

One thing he said recently that resonated with me is that it’s not just who you lose from the year before, it’s about how your young guys who were here last year improve and make that jump.

He seems to think we have a lot of talented young guys ready to shine this year along with a steady group of veterans.

This may sound silly....but IMO skill players are a dime a dozen and there is usually a player just chomping at the bit to get their chance....as in next man up.

I know those guys; J,T&D had the stats and all....but you can only play so many players at one time for so many plays...I say again "Next Man Up!!!". New stars are born every year.

Go Cards beat Ole Miss!!!

An old SEC coach said he looked for 4 players every year recruiting....two all conference level offensive linemen and two all conference level defensive linemen.....after 3 seasons the speed players would take care of themselves.
