The best offensive player on the team. He can score in a number of ways. He's smooth at the line. He made a few extra passes. Hit the weakside of the glass for a put-back. Drained a few shots in the flow.

He played like, 3 min in the first half.

I'm laughing.

I'm going to enjoy watching this play out.

Can Rick do it? Can he give in and just play the guy 25 minutes?

King is good and is going to be very good. Would like to see him develop better ball-handling skills. Haven't noticed much about him on D, either good or bad. But he has a great shot and can drive to the hoop. No doubt about that. Glad that he's a Card!

Sure. Like foul 3 pts shooters like the starters do?

The guy rebounded a few in traffic, and made extra passes.

Did you watch the game?
Every minute. The problem is I've watched the previous 7 or 8 games too.

If a guy is gonna play just because he can score and be efficient doing it (not just jack up shots), he needs to be pretty damn good offensively. And I haven't seen a guy yet on this team in that category.

VJ King is barely a 5-star kid: at #25, the lowest rated by Rivals in 2016. And that's about how good he appears to me as a freshman. Chane Behanan was similarly rated as was Blackshear. Guys at that level aren't anywhere close to 1st round draft picks and don't need to be treated that way as college freshmen, certainly not under Pitino (of all coaches).

King's gonna be a really good player if he continues to work hard and accept his role. That's about where it is right now...

I'm not his agent trying to get him drafted.

I'm just stating the obvious, he needs to play consistent minutes to help make the team more dynamic.

If the starters were really good, I wouldn't create this thread. I'm not posting as the 5 star FR fan wanting more 5 stars

He is 6-12 on the yr from the 3pt line and 20-24 from the ft line. That is efficiency without consistent minutes.

Chane B was a key contributor to a FF team that scored the key bucket to make the FF as a FR. This isn't about the NBA or future recruits.

He's really effing good Zipp!

Hey, he's good enough to play meaningful minutes as a freshman under Pitino. That's saying something about ANY kid.

I think 8 games in, we need to be patient with both him and Pitino...

It wasn't that hard to find a middle ground on this, now was it?

I agree, it is just 8 games in.

I think he is showing mental toughness by being ready to play, in a game like this.

24 min tonight.

I'm just a little nervous given our last top recruit took his ball and went home. That's probably on me.

It's probably more on the kid than you. When one of these kids wants to pack up and leave who's being coached like King apparently is, I don't want that kid in my program. It's cliche, but it ain't L1C4. And I certainly hope that doesn't apply to VJ...

King is very athletic but seems a bit lost on the floor. He has more potential than any others. Pitino likes to bring them along slowly. This is how he does it right or wrong I don't know but neither do any of you internet coaches ;)

Wrong. He has started a number of Fr and played them heavy minutes. Juan P, Chane B, T Will, Jerry Smith, Samardo Samuels, Edgar Sosa. Caracter and Clark also saw a lot of PT as Fr. If the player is good enough, Pitino is willing to play them as Fr. King is good enough.

Adel and King need to be on the floor more at the same time. Adel is an athlete who is learning how to be a basketball player. King is an athletic basketball player. They can feed off each others abilities IMO. I like both a lot.

Don't you know that Adel should no longer play since he is no longer a freshman.

If I understand your sarcasm, your point has something to do with the Calipari coaching model. It works for him and his followers but I prefer a coach who has the history of teaching the game with a coaching tree that doesn't resemble Charlie Brown's Christmas tree but that's just me. :D
