A rough outing Thursday night for Louisville women's soccer -- falling 3-0 to the #24 ranked Irish in South Bend.
UND wasted no time in getting on the board. A goal with just 37 expired off the clock gave the Irish a 1-0 lead. Korbin Albert, the goal scorer, would strike again for the Irish nine minutes later and the Irish would add a third goal before the first half ended for a 3-0 advantage.
The Irish controlled the contest offensively, with a 19-4 shot edge and a 9-1 shot-on-goal advantage. Louisville goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos recorded four saves for the Cardinals, but was replaced by Hanna Wise in the 61st minute. It marked the first time since a 5-2 win over Dayton on Sept. 12, 2019 that Kouzelos has been removed from the game, ending a streak of 36 consecutive matches where she had played every minute.
Wise played 29 minutes in the net and saved the only two shots she faced.
The Cardinals loss drops them to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2 in conference. The Cards are in a three -way tie for fourth place in the ACC with Wake Forest and Clemson --with nine points. UofL returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. vs NC State.
