kind of a misery loves company kind of thing, but also it just feels like a weird year/tourney, and we can just chalk our early departure up to a flukey kind of post season.

Pulled for Duke all the way, never gave it a second thought.

USCjr didn't even belong in the tourney. Just another Cinderella screwing up everyone's brackets the opening weekend, never to be heard from again.

Come to think of it, the SEC is full of those teams.

"Elite program," my a$$...

I know it's almost like Duke LET them score 65 in the second half.

Duke probably let down thinking it's just another SEC team. Kinda like LPT has been finishing games such as NKU. Eventually that ish can catch up to you.

SC was a top defensive team in the nation for pretty much the entire season. They hit a snag in conference play, but they have some good athletes and Frank Martin is a good coach. Duke did not have a true PG that could handle pressure very well, and it was just a match up issue for them at the time. At the end of the day, to be successful you have to be able to make stops. That is why Rick's teams have done well at every stop because they can keep themselves in a game no matter the opponent with high energy defense. Duke could not make a stop and their O was thrown off by physical play.

I heard someone call that team the greatest collection of talent ever assembled

SEC basketball teams always have good athletes because of where they're located and the size of their athletic budgets. That doesn't really distinguish any SEC team incl. South Carolina.

They're also a collection of some of the worst basketball coaches in the P5 conferences--relative unknowns, retreads, and coaches who couldn't keep a job with a school that emphasized basketball. Against that backdrop, it's hard to say any SEC coach is "good"--like the biggest guppy in the fishbowl.

When the words "good coach" are uttered, I dare say that the name "Frank Martin" never follows from anyone. IMO he's perceived as a wacky or wacky-looking guy taking basketball refuge at South Carolina for some inexplicable reason. Maybe he likes the weather.

It's true that South Carolina has a basketball history dating back many years ago. Otherwise, they don't belong in the same basketball discussion as Duke or any other top-shelf basketball team. Play last nite's game on a true neutral court ten times, and Duke wins nine. Yesterday was that 1 in 10...a fluke.

Frank Martin has a career winning percentage of 62.8%. And behavior/looks is a very shallow way to debate his coaching skills. SC was a wreck when he arrived, and noww they are in the sweet 16. He made the tourney 4 out of 5 years at K-State and was a win away from the Final 4 in 2010 if you care to remember. I did not say "great coach" I said good coach.
