If we can't release Bobby due to $$$

I don't think it is crazy. Tyra tells him he has to completely redo is staff if he doesn't agree then they work on a smaller buyout. Tyra at the end of the day has complete control if staff stays or goes. I doubt Petrino would agree to the staff changes and smart enough to know it wouldn't work which only hurt his future coaching options. Get out now, Petrino could say it was a bad year and scandals hurt his ability to recruit someone in a smaller conference would give him a shot. He stays another year it is a trend not just 1 bad year. The other factor is no one is hiring his family so if he is able to get another job he can take them with him.

The problem in keeping Petrino is the players are telling us, in their performance, they don't want to play for this staff. They are begging Tyra to fire the staff...
This is a subplot to the mess we're in, but I'd wanna identify who exactly those players are and get rid of them as well.

Agree with this strategy to some extent, although it requires Tyra to play a game of bluff. And Petrino could call his bluff...

Yes, they are.

But riddle me this. IF FB bankrupted the Athletic Dept, how long do we remain uncompetitive, or I should say how bad to we get, until "sports" balances the books?

Do we let Walz contract expire and go low ball for a young assistant somewhere? McDonnell?

The people who helped build the programs (whales) did not get rich throwing good money after bad.

I'm just saying that if the "Whales" don't fall all over themselves bailing us out of a mess that GRISSOM got us into, we have some serious decisions coming.
Well, we might find out pretty soon how committed the clown show is to "de-emphasized" athletics. Your analysis is correct...

It is definitely a mess and it was impossible to see this kind of tanking coming. You can make a legitimate argument this is the toughest schedule Louisville has ever faced.

Alabama-in the playoffs
Clemson-in the playoffs
UK-potential 10 win team
Syracuse potential 10 win team
NC State 9 win team
BC 8 win team
GT bowl team
Virginia 8 win team

All they had to do was be competive and find a way to 5 or 6 wins against that schedule he survives. Instead they are getting hammered with no hope in turning it around. Basically forcing the hand of the AD.

Again, why are the boosters not going to give money now? Were they Louisville supporters or Tom Jurich supporters? I realize money is down now...but considering everything the University just went through I think thats to be expected but what I can't seem to grasp that keeps being brought up is the idea that because Jurich is no longer the AD then Louisville's boosters will stop giving money. If thats the case...so be it. That wouldn't surprise me all because that seems shady as hell and well...right up Tom's ally.

This is ridiculous. Sure you can go back and look at the schedule and say it’s tough but the shit starting happening against a lowly Indiana St and WKU team we probably should have lost to. Also if we had a halfway decent team we should have beat the Seminoles. Everyone else is. No more spins, please.

It's not boosters' fault. You don't give money to people you don't trust. How do they pick financial planners--those guys all invest the money in basically the same places?

The problem is people managing U of L's interests. I have no issue with money being withheld from them. In fact, I talk to fans about that every week. Get rid of those managers and the money might return eventually...

Two years ago we were smacking the black off that FSU ass and in the CFP discussion with a Heisman, and yet here we are. I'm still trying to figure out how this happened.

The big problem here is that Petrino has lost this team. They don't respect him or even play for him anymore. With that being said, he will have the same team back next year. So, why would we expect that next year would be any different. Sorry but he has to go.

These aren’t investments, they are gifts. There is no real return on the money other than the satisfaction of seeing a school you love do well. Why would you stop giving because of a change in management?
Perhaps TJ built close relationships with many donors and Alums who gave copiously in the past. Have Vince and /or Neeli tried to rebuild those relationships? Is TJ working behind the scenes to extract revenge on those who destroyed him? Like I have said, someday there’s a great book to be written about the UofL athletic department. There is so much going on that is hidden from us poor fans.

That's semantics... You invest in OR give money to people with vision, credibility, and the likelihood of return on your money. Otherwise it's squandered. If you think U of L athletics would have attracted anywhere near the financial support it has/had in this community the last two decades without Jurich at the helm, you're sorely mistaken.

And I don't have to prove that. All I have to do is wait and observe more of what's happening now. There's your proof. It's not whacked out boosters and their behavior fundamentally; it's whacked out observers who fail to understand that...

Cycles. Traditional football blue bloods have one or two off years but quickly recoup. We don’t have that luxury, well because we can’t keep a football coach who wants to be here and put U of L on the football map.

No spin at all, I am saying the opposite the tough schedule gave Petrino and his staff a legit excuse with a young team IF they won 5 or 6 games. That obviously isn't not happening. On top of that they aren't just getting beat they are getting hammered. In a year where the strength of schedule could of helped a coach make his case to keep his job the s.o.s doesn't matter because they are so bad .
