Would it have changed the end of the season?

Would we have folded like we did?

Ever since that game it felt like we slowly regressed, besides the NC State game and Boston College.

Could that 1 yard and the W changed the way our season ended completely?

No.

If NC State beats Clemson, Clemson is focused enough to beat Pitt.

The Cards were a 12-2 team Orange bowl team ( losses to Clemson, Michigan )
They were not focused for 12 games. They received what they earn.

Yeah but none of that would have mattered if we won. We would've won our side. Im just saying would controlling our own destiny changed the outcome. Beating clemson, we would be in the drivers seat to the playoffs and we would've controlled our destiny

Every team controls their own destiny until they lose...

I know what youre sayin.

This team wasn't prepared enough mentally to beat Clemson.
Just as the 2013 Champions trailed Wichita 90% of the game,
We all knew the Cards would win.

The Cards cant look past team and reach the playoffs.

There's an old saying about "if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped". I think that applies to the "if" on that one yard.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

There is no reason to play the if game. Clemson killed OSU and took out Bama. The best team won when UofL played Clemson. Live in the real world. No reason to live in fantasy land.

I'll play this game of ifs and buts...my answer is the only change would be that Alabama would have another trophy and we would have a record of 10-3...I think we fell apart due to internal problems not withstanding our game against Clemson...also it would have been more painful to the fans, as we would have been booking our tickets.

What if Virginia bats down our 4th down pass to Hikutini right before the touchdown throw to Jaylen Smith? What if Lamar doesn't fumble against Kentucky? What if Ed Oliver at Houston got a vicious 24 hour stomach bug right before we played them?

I have seen someone post something like "we almost beat Clemson and therefore we could have done equally well in the NC." The problem with that thinking is that Clemson, although struggled in a few games, improved their body of work by the end of the season. Part of that is because they got to play an extra game in the ACC championship and I believe quality games teach valuable lessons. On the other hand we also know that things weren't right on this team after mid season or so.

This team wasn't capable of running the table even in league play; had we beaten Clemson we may very well have lost to a UVA or Duke afterwards. In the end the only impact would have been on Clemson. I'm not so sure we had the mental makeup to even win our ACC division.

Win or lose at Clemson doesn't change the realities of being thin at certain spots defensively, it doesn't change how poorly we handled the A and B gaps with our offensive line regardless of opponent not named NC State and if anything I don't think this team was either emotionally constructed or mature enough to handle success. We handled what success we had like some Nouveau Riche kid just out of college, we spent our equity within weeks of getting it.

I think depth would have caught up eventually.

As PO'd as I was/am, I'm thankful we didn't get a beat down on that HUGE stage of the FF.

The Talking Heads would have flooded the nation with "pretenders" etc. tOSU would have been ridiculed had it been anybody but tOSU.

Now we're a young team who couldn't handle success I can live with that.

But "pretender" would hurt us worse IMO.
