How about those Hoosiers?

Didn't see that coming. I think Miller's a good hire despite this stumble out of the gate. Shows how unexpected the results may be with any new hire...

I think this serves as a good reminder to “fan bases” about bitching and moaning about their coaching staffs. I too think this was a good hire but IU fans need to realize that they are partly to blame for last night.

First thing I thought of when I saw the score was that the hire was Sirmonian. And yes I’m coining this phrase.

Good. I hope IU loses every game they play from now until the end of time. They’ve earned the #2 slot on the hate list permanently.

I sorta agree. There isn't a more arrogant & delusional fan base in America than IU-Bloomington.

The "WE'RE BACK!!" shirts they were selling really were hilarious. What did they exactly come back from? Less mediocrity? They weren't exactly lighting the world on fire the last 10 years Knight was there. The one fluke run to the NCAACG under MIke Davis was one highlight. 50%+ of their fans still have some strange clinging to Knight and his boorish behavior.

I think IU-Bloomington has one vindictive alumnus that gave the Katina Powell story legs and financed it. No one can convince me otherwise.

Kinda reminds me of the 70s and 80s with the uahkay faithful and Adolph “I’m no racist” coRuppt.

Yep; screw em. I sincerely hope they lose every time they hit the floor to play. Can't stand anything about IU including that relic barn they play in.

Back in the eighties, we called that acting like a man. Those were better days.

Don't count IU out...they have an alum that runs NBC sports. Which has done nice things with horse racing.

I love all the shade that you guys are throwing at Indiana, considering your future is going to look like the Tom Crean era. If you're lucky. He might even be the hire.

I don’t remember seeing anyone smacked around or choked.

LOL-That's because the girl's schools were different.

My PE teacher had a hockey stick. He'd tape your name to it. And the old school brothers...don't even ask. I believe the lessons I learned there made me a stronger man. Life is physical. Might as well be taught it at a young age.

Awesome. I’ve done pretty well for myself without having been smacked around at St. X. I’m glad they have evolved.

I never said I was smacked around...but it did happen. Our parents paid extra for it. I hope they still do it as my son is headed there next year.

At the time BK went down I remember thinking that incident with Reed (RIP) was way overblown. Sports are physical. BK was a physical coach. Indiana and BK went through the same thing as we're experiencing here. New blood came in and attacked what had previously made them a success. And I predict the same level of success for us as they've had since. Once RP recruits are gone,..

This guy can see 17 years into the future.

That's what intelligent people do...try to predict the future. We use historical data combined with experience in an attempt to predict an outcome. We sure as heck don't rely on what others tell us. The sheeples play slot machines. And there's plenty of them to go around.

So tell me, what basketball program has done well after firing their HOF coach? Cause similar to Indiana, I predict Padgett gets the job with RP recruits. I also predict he's not connected enough to recruit student-athletes on his own. So he too will be gone in 3-4 years. Then comes a series of hires that go nowhere. Maybe even a few more violations along the way...

Edit*** WOW, it's been 17 years. Firing BK absolutely destroyed their brand.

How many basketball programs have fired a HOF coach?

There is no real sample size to predict what's going to happen 17 yrs from now to this program.

For IU struggles, I can show you Penn St's immediate return to the T10 in football.

Oh boy, our sample size doubled to "2" - but PSU is football, a different sport.

Going to be a rough 17 years.

I thought about PSU but that's a different animal. They have a huge population pool to draw from of kids that grew up cheering for them. Look at their roster and they don't have many kids outside of their backyard.

I agree sample size isn't large...but Indiana is a great comparison. They too fired knight after a series of events. BK was let go before there was a chance to find a successor for the upcoming season. BK had also assembled a nice group of talent before being shown the door.

Denny was replaced by another HOF coach. How often does that happen?

I should have changed the question to, ..what school has done well after replacing their HOF coach? Or just a good coach?...UK, IU,UM, FL, UA, LSU, UCLA, Zona... It's really hard to find a good replacement.

It's really hard to find a good replacement.

This is fine. The immediate future problems are obvious. The long term prognosis is really unknown, once you step out beyond 3-5 years.

We don't even know what power conferences will look like in 10 yrs, yet we're supposed to know UofL is going to be average for the next two decades? Come on man.

UofL's future could be similar to IU post Knight 15-20 yr results, could be worse, a lot worse. Could be better, a lot better.

Anything is possible. I just don't bet on it.
