Holgorsen to Houston.

Unless your name is Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma , or maybe Georgia, you have no consistent chance of making the playoff. Might as well make $4 million a year and live in Houston than Morgantown, WV.
I mentioned this a few weeks back when some were suggesting Dana as potential HC for Louisville. Dana was looking at 4-8 next year and getting fired, and he knew it. WVU was loaded this year and Will Grier fell into their lap, and they still had a late season collapse as they always do under him. WVU wanted him gone and instead of having to FARRRR the sonofabitch and take the buyout hit they got paid, so everyone wins.
Interesting to see if they go after Fickell. The Big 12 is where defensive minded coaches go to never be heard from again.
Few thoughts on this:
- there were rumors that Holgorsen reached out to Tyra. I’d say this would nearly confirm those rumors
- Holgorsen is a different kind of dude. He’s a bachelor, likes to gamble and have a good time. Guessing he found Morgantown very confining
- as mentioned above, he was looking a rough year next season. This was a way out, gets him into the state he can recruit well in and then jump back into P5 in a few years if he wants. And if not he will have $20M in the bank and be living in a city he likes.
- I think Neal Brown will be the pick here though I think they should hire Fickell

I won’t report it but this is an example of a post that should be deleted because it adds no substance to the topic at hand and throws an unnecessary insult at a poster who hasn’t commented in this thread. That’s what drags down this message board.

I have heard that Brown is the most likely hire also. However, the President at WVU was the President of OSU that hired Urban Meyer so he knows Fickell. I would not rule him out.
Not that he deserves fairness, but I think it was Kerry Rhodes who was quoted with that saying a few hundred times.

Still wondering why it was deleted. I’ve long suspected that “zipp” was a secret mod. How else could he get away with so much douchebaggery?
Holgorsen can be a king in Houston, get paid a lot of money, and have access to probably a better portal of recruits.
The AAC will never get him a title....but he is playing in the 4 largest city in the nation in a state with soooo much talent and big money supporters. Herman showed you can get big time talent and attention at that school.
West Virginia is playing in Texas and Oklahoma's conference. Now with Texas coming back...I think he knew it was time to cash in and coach for big money and less stress.

Houston is also in prime position to upgrade to the Big 12 should they ever decide to expand to 12 again. Houston played their way into the old SWC and conceivably be in position to do it again.

I’ll post how I feel - thanks. If that means that some get the axe - so be it. I’m going to guess that many of your posts stay up because the mods (like most) don’t have the interest or inclination to actually make it through them - they’re tedious at best. And, I’d bet you that a better percentage of my “schlock” is read than your one note drivel.

Brown probably has better work ethic. Apparently WVU only used 8 of their 15 bowl game practices, for one example.
Have you lost track of your own issues? Your posts get deleted for reasons you don't like or understand. I feel bad about that...
