What is the deal with Matz Stockman? Is he being redshirted? I don't think I've ever heard Pitino officially address this subject.

He's not a red shirt because he played this year. He has played in 4 games for a total of 22 minutes. Red shirt is burned I do believe.

You do believe? In other words you are not 100% sure, just like me. That's why I ask. I find it hard to believe he wouldn't have played in more than four games if something concerning a redshirt wasn't in the works. I know he is a huge project but would like to know his class for next year. I thought the possibility of redshirting had to do with a % of games played vs number of games the team played for the season?

The redshirt is burned.He played,therefore he can't take one this season.The rule is pretty clear on that.

Now,if it's for a medical reason,the rule changes.I don't believe there is a medical reason.

I've heard Rick sing Matz's praises recently in interviews saying that he is very talented and smart but has not picked up the nuances of how to play in Rick's system or something to that effect. I believe he said that Matz has had trouble understanding the American basketball lingo as something that has slowed his progress.

It might be Pitino hyperbole but he said that he expects big things from Matz next year. Still you have to wonder how he hasn't at least gotten a few minutes late in the regular season given our struggles at the 5. Sounds like Rick is protecting him and I can understand that.

I heard at one point mid season that he was having some kind of problem with his leg(s). Knees, shins??/
