It's in the book. Decent read and it was written by a Pastor. I'm interested in hearing the spin on this one.

Not sure what being a Pastor has to do with anything.
Probably about as much as being a drug dealer has to do with it...

I'll believe it if the claims are ever substantiated. This is a man seeking publicity and a pay day...

And there it is. The spin I expected to see in writing and you (figured it would be you) didn't let me down.

Have you read the book? The man was in a real bad way before changing his life by accepting Christ as his savior, and he lets us peek into his early life before finding his way and some of the slimy people he had to deal with. He specifically mentions John Calipari and his pay for play program. If it's a lie, then I suspect John Calipari will want to clear his name and sue the man for defamation of character. Somehow I doubt that happens.

Why is it spin if someone has a completely logical take on something that doesn't align with your views?

The guy was an admitted low life. He says he's changed. He says a lot of things. It is questionable that it has taken so long for this story, as well as the book, to come out. It took so long because he's been shopping for a publisher. He says his intent is to clear his mind, make sure this still isn't going on, and to help families and parents who are going through the recruiting process. He could do those things for free, but is looking for a financial gain, which isn't one of his stated reasons for coming forward and writing a book.

Also, this story has been out for almost a year. There has been no notice sent to the Memphis AD, and the pastor doesn't have a single shred of evidence against Memphis, Kellogg, or Cal. The player himself says he has no knowledge of these accusations.

Finally, Cal already has spoken about this. When asked about the accusations Cal laughed and said that he had to be convinced to recruit the player by someone on his staff.

But yeah, it makes more sense to believe Cal was funneling money for a recruit, and continued to pay for the player once on the team that averaged 5 points a game over his four year career lol.

That's not spin. I'm not saying Cal is misunderstood or innocent or taken out of context or anything like that (which would be spin) I'm saying the writer's motivation is money and publicity.

If (big IF) the claims can be substantiated, then I will listen. Until then, it's gossip. It does not matter if he is a pastor, a drug dealer, a bell hop, or a PhD. It also does not matter it's in a book... anybody can publish and sell a book.

Also, defamation cases like this generally don't happen. There is no gain for the offended parties, and depending on how it is worded, it becomes "alleged" versus actual accusations... so there is a limited case.

This is like trying to pick a fight cuz someone stepped on your shadow. I'm a Cardinal fan and I don't even know what the "spin" is...

Seriously, some of you guys need to put down the pitchforks and go home. If UK is gonna run the table, there's nothing you can do about it. It sucks and I hate it, but Kentucky is really good this year. At this point, get a grip. Close the laptop and have a beer.

Yeah. I agree. I had the link sent to me on twitter so I shared it because I found it interesting but like you said, screw it. It's only sports and I still believe in karma so IF they are doing anything wrong, it will eventually come back around. If not, then kudos your basketball team beat my basketball team. It's not going to ruin my life or effect my self worth as a man lol

I suspect that until bigger names come forward on this Calipari-Wesley would be wise to do what UKay fans are doing about this and that is poke fun and trash the accuser and then ignore it. I doubt he wants to challenge the Pastor in court.

Nobody would be the least bit surprised if it happened then and is happening on a bigger level now but good luck proving it. I'm sure Calipari-Wesley learned his lesson, layers and more layers. Hell, that's why you hire the guy in the first place.

I just wish I had a dollar for every UK fan I heard refer to Calipari-Wesley as the slimiest coach in College Basketball when he wore a different shade of blue when at Memphis. Funny that those same fans would now defend the guy to the death. Speaks volumes about the whole lot of them.

Isnt' that last paragraph what UL fans did with Pitino? A lot of UNC fans I know did the same with Roy at Kansas. Especially after the "I'd dont' give a s%&t about North Carolina" comment. A think most of it is due to jealousy.

I can't speak for any other Louisville fan but as far as my own feelings about Pitino when he was at Kentucky were that I disliked him solely because he was Kentucky's Coach and I liked the way his teams played. That's a far cry from UK fans calling Calipari-Wesley the dirtiest coach in College Basketball and saying they would never want anything to do with someone like that.

Jealousy is not even on my radar when it comes to discussing Calipari-Wesley and never will be. He is where he is supposed to be. I will give the Wesley-Calipari version credit though, the kids on this particular UKay team seem to be good kids but then again that's never been an issue for me.

Please tell me you don't believe this. His own nephew said this was false. Holy ish I thought this was a joke to rile up UK fans, but no you actually bought that book. Dear God, you actually bought that book....

party0028.r191677.gif

BBN fans are so easy.

His nephew said it wasn't true so that has to be the truth!! No reason for the nephew to lie and all kinds of reasons for the Pastor to. OK. Maybe it is a lie, maybe it isn't, but all I know is the man put it in print so if Calipari is so freaking innocent and cares enough to clear his name, then he'll file a lawsuit to stop the spread of the lie. I would be willing to bet he doesn't, and just wants this to go away.

Pop the popcorn, and lets see if this one grabs traction over the course of the next few months. It might. It might not. Most everyone knows he's slime, and from what I've been able to see, not many really care.

Because suing ppl will make ppl like you stop lol Now if he can get 900 dumb UL fans to buy his book like you did, he will have his 20,000

Actually I just read the description which was a really good read. That's all I needed to read and that part was free. The Pastor turned his life around after traveling down a road of crime, corruption, and deceit and mentions BY NAME how John Calipari uses his pay for play antics to buy recruits like the one he was handling at the time when he was traveling down that wrong road.

The UK coach is a slime ball and it only takes ONE to start the avalanche of truth. Hopefully this is THE one that gets that snowball rolling down the hill so the rest of us who don't worship him can enjoy him crashing and burning. We'll see. It might end up being nothing, but the best part for me is stuff like this keeps BBN members like you on edge. You have to constantly be worried about some type of scandal popping up to ruin the ride because it's happened before. It's happened 2 times before. Is a 3rd time on the way? It is if this Pastor has his way, and if enough people in the right places care enough to make it an issue.

I am with lvillefan1 on this one. In no way does anything that happens in college basketball have an effect on my self-worth. On the other hand, uk fans must have their cayuts win so they can validate their own existence. A uk fan is truly the most pathetic, miserable POS on this planet. Here's to uk losing and 70% of uk fans hanging themselves.

LMFAO the guy thinks Cue bought the book, and UofL fans would buy the book.

LOLOLOL

Nobody gives a crap about this author's story but we aren't going to get hostile if he wants to accuse Cal of wrongdoing - he ain't are daddy.

Post of the year. They don't understand why we're not all like this with our teams. It's because we have other things that interest us, and motivate us in our lives. You simple minded rubes don't. Case closed.

You didn't say it seemed like a decent read you said it is a decent read, and you got that from the description? I bet you read alot of books...Ahem "descriptions" lol Maybe you should get in contact with "Catfish" and you two can pray about Cal being exposed.

I typically don't believe anything coming from the mouth of a person who devotes his life to teaching people about an imaginary person, but this seems plausible. Pastor would come in somewhere near ambulance chasing attorney or divorce lawyer on my list of people I wouldn't trust with a nickel, but all three rank above Calipari.

I save my prayers for things that actually matter to me. Calipari being exposed is only about time and is not worthy of any type of prayer. Eventually it'll happen again just like it has already happened 2 times before. Yeah I know, I know, he's innocent of all wrong doing because the NCAA (which makes millions off his being successful) says so. LOL! He's slime and everyone knows it. Everyone that wants to know it that is.

Love the new kid who just said he chose UK because Rose went there. That should tell you all you need to know about these "recruits". They don't give two flips about the uniform. They only play for pay and Calipari has his system in place with all his bases covered UNTIL someone blows the whistle and someone WILL at some point in the future. You can count on it happening. I would be nervous too if I were a UK fan.

To the uk fans that continue to respond to take up for Fat John, don't fret, uk will probably win a championship in 3 days and everything about your goofy lives will be validated. If not, I will be more than happy to tighten your noose or give you a little nudge off of the bridge. ☺️

LOL, Says the UofK fan on a UofL board. I simply linked the location of a book that might interest you if you want to really understand what you've got as a head coach. I already know what he is. I've known it for more than 20 years now. He's slime.

Fall on that BBN sword for your savior as you obsess about what is posted on this board about him. I know it eats at you or you wouldn't take the time to respond. LMAO!!

Just because ppl call you out on your ignorance means nothing but that....You should be flattered lol Reading this board is like the funny papers....its all repetitive nonsense. Keep an eye out on lulu or lala for a book called 15 Seconds...I'm sure the description will be all you hope it will be!
